Thanks, Catherine! I actually got busy reading and relaxed instead.

Sunday, June 1: returned to help my friend’s mom unpack some of her stuff, but no heavy lifting this time.

Afternoon: walked up the beach about 2.5 miles. Made it back with darkening skies and (gasp) a string of little dead fish on the shore, what’s with that? Getting back to just two blocks from my car before it started to rain.  Whew. It’d have been a dreary walk back in a downpour.

Evening: went to the gym. Did 8 min warmup cardio, kinda fast. Didn’t have a big Sunday plan. Did lower back extension, rowing machine, hip adductor and abductor. In the middle my iPod died, just ran out of juice and hadn’t been charged, which I hadn’t realized. I cut the evening short and came home. I’m glad I at least kept working on the back muscles, upper and lower, as I really feel that has made a difference.

Monday, June 2: unplanned day off, due to a sudden and nasty bout of food poisoning. I think it was the rotisserie chicken I bought last night. I had to go into the office for about a half-hour after I’d finally gotten a little rest, then came home and lay about all day. Difficult to sleep as the lawn guys were working, seemingly all day. Still haven’t really eaten, but I drank a lot of water. Achy and headachy, trying to make myself more comfortable.

Thanks! I still feel pretty weak, though I no longer feel feverish. Still haven’t touched food, have had only water, and finally some ibuprofen which I’m glad stayed down. I think I’m about to try something ‘safe’ to eat. Amazing how wrung out I feel, considering I felt so strong just two days ago.

Just got caught up.. sorry to hear you’re feeling icky.  Take care of yourself.  This is one area where I luckily can not relate.  I must have a stomach of iron.  I haven’t tossed my cookies since I was 12 years old.  It is not something I am looking to experience any time soon.  Do you have soda crackers on hand?  How bout some (flat) gingerale?

Hope you feel better soon.

Ann you should try some chicken or beef stock, it’s easy to stomach and at least your getting some nutrition.

Thanks. I’m still kind of ill, so the Consensus of Interested Parties and Busybodies (TM) has declared that I have the flu and not food poisoning. So I got to hear about four other people’s recent bouts of flu. Great. Yesterday I managed a muffin, a bit of couscous, and some of a baked potato. Unfortunately overnight my stomach was in pain and ... so forth. So this morning I picked up Club crackers and ginger ale, relying on the tried-and-true items.

Amen, Emmi. Plus, I’m so bored. I’ve gotten a lot of rest, but my life was pretty busy and on a regular schedule and now I’ve been off that schedule. I miss exercising. And flavor. And coffee. At least my headache has lightened up so maybe I’ll try a favorite old movie for entertainment. smile

Thursday, June 5: managed a rather gentle version of the 7pm Jazzercise. I sort of fluffed my way through the highest intensity part, doing lower impact and such as I just didn’t have the stamina, but I made it through. On one of the last numbers, a routine I don’t particularly care for much anyway, I sat down on the floor and did some reverse situps and other ab work, as it felt less stressful than standing with weights. Not too bad. I sort of feel on the mend, and even dared a light meal tonight.  Still getting extra rest.

Good to get the blood flowing again, but take it easy until you are really over this bug.  Did you feel well enough to go into work or are you still couped up at home?

Take Care.

Oh, I’ve been to work every day. Just a half-hour on Monday, to put out ‘fires’, but all day Tuesday. Wednesday I left about 1:30, intending to go home for a nap and come back, but I ended up sleeping the entire afternoon. Yesterday I was here all day, and was more productive. I think the bit of exercise was really good for me, not pushing it, just sweating it out a bit. Though I was easily fatigued. I have my chiro visit today (had to move it, as they’re rescheduling to cover the office I go to, but it turned out waiting till today was best for me anyway this time) and my back and hip feel fine.

So far so good today. I was even tempted to stop on the way in and get a plain bagel with cream cheese, but thought I’d stick to the crackers and tea today, as I have all weekend to get reacquainted with food...slowly. I need to remind myself to get up and stretch out during the day.

Ann,
Glad to hear you are on the mend but that you are easing back into eating and moving. Hopefully you will be back to your old self soon.

Easing back is the idea, Eileen, thanks. I’m definitely feeling better today (Saturday). Did the 8am Jazzercise class, pretty full-on. I stuck around for the 9:15, but mostly to check in attendees, and do a few early numbers. Then I busied myself cleaning the bathrooms and such, till I joined them at the end for the ab and glute routines. And I just had my first coffee since Sunday—an iced nonfat latte from Starbucks, my Saturday usual, with a slice of marble loaf. I think I’m going to relax for a bit then consider another long beach walk today. It’s hot (high 93° this afternoon) but being along the water it’s not so overwhelming. I miss working out hard, but there’s no point in pushing myself until I feel my vitality come back. (Look, a grown-up observation!) (Just the one.)

Ann,
We are getting Florida weather here in Vermont.  Right now it is 90 degrees, yesterday it was only 65 degrees at this time.  I am watching the baseball game and then going out to mow my lawn, hoping it will be a little cooler.

Keep getting better.
