I just joined the site last night and am starting with Day 1 today, May 20. This is the perfect challenge for me because I have a goal weight I want to reach by my birthday (Sept. 5) and that is 107 days away now. So when I complete this challenge, I will have 7 days to enjoy it and be proud of myself before my birthday.
This is not just about weight for me. I want to feel good about myself and look good, too! Sometimes motivation is hard to come by, so I really want this site to be a place where I can find some of that should I need it.
I’ll be here as much as I can (90% of the time I can check in at least once per day) and I hope to meet you all soon!
Welcome to the form Christie!! This is a great place for motivation and inspiration. We are all at different places in our journey. Some are true athletes (Tom does tri-athalons on a regular basis!!) and some are here to get to healthier weithts. (That’s me 100 to lose - 75 still to go!)
What are some of your goals and what type of activity do you do for exercise?
Will be checking in on your progress. Take a step - repeat!!
Welcome, Christie! This challenge is wonderful, the accountability is amazing. Sometimes I work out just so I can post something! What did you do for your day 1?
I’m not new to exercise in the sense that I’ve worked out regularly in the past, but it’s been some time since I’ve done that. So in a way I am just starting out.
My goal right now is to weight 175 for my birthday in September. I weigh 194 now. I have 107 days! LOL
My ultimate goal is to weigh 155. I’m 6’0” tall and that is what I weighed in high school when I played basketball.
I’m a little late in welcoming you, soooo WELCOME to the forum!
Sounds like you have a very realistic goal set out.
I’m convinced that it takes just watching your calories. I use http://www.fitday.com to help track what I eat. It helps me stay on track.... remember, if you eat 500 calories less each day, you will lose a lb a week. Add in a 4 day a week exercise program, and you’ll be burning through those lbs, and get to your High School basketball weight in no time!
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I’m excited for day 2! Day one was good. I’m going to keep it simple for a while and then we’ll see about stepping it up a notch.
Tom- I’m not too far from you… just a hop, skip, and jump away in Vista!
Hi welcome to the forum and great job on getting through your first day! This is a great site. The people here are wonderful. We all got your back!
Keeping things simple is smart. Simple works!!! (Gee where did I hear that! )
I sometimes work out at the LA Fitness on Hacienda and Melrose. I really like the spin class instructor who teaches on Tuesday and Thursday mornning (5:30 am)
All right Christie!! Glad to see you’ve made a great start! Remember to listen to your body and take rest days when needed. I have to remind myself of that sometimes too. Today is going to be a easy walking day for me.
I am doing great today after the dancing! I went to the Zoo today for a couple of hours and hiked around there and I also made sure to get in my walk/jog cardio with light weights.
