Between the throat tickles and the knee problems, there’s a lot of stuff going around the forum.

Catherine, hope you are feeling better! I tend to go into hibernate mode if I feel something coming on, and couple that with having some good hot and sour soup from a Chinese takeout place, plus lots of hot beverages like tea—green, black, and herbal. It often wards it off.

Wow, your chiro session was long, but I hope helpful.

Cathrine for sports bras and such you can try the running room or other running stores, most likely places like sears carry them and you could also try winners, thats where I get my workout stuff(no sports bras of course LOL)

Do you have a Wal-mart there? I tried to check online, but didn’t see Canada as an option.

Here’s the best sports bra I’ve ever had, and it works great for regular use! I’m wearing one right now.

Have you tried to add in yoga until your knee heals? I’ve gotten to the point where I can lay my head on my knee (straight legged) with no problems. Cool side effect of no running, tons of yoga.

Hope you feel better soon, spring colds suck.

Thanks for the bra shopping advice Bree and especially Shawn!! LOL I spent a good hour in Sears on Sunday trying different ones… none that I really liked. I have yet to try Walmart. I like the idea of the Running Room. I didn’t think to try them. I did look up the New Balance site but they didn’t carry any. I’ll look up the Running Room and give them a call to see if they have any that might work for me. I finally decided to just look up bra boutiques/stores in Toronto and I have a list of several that say they carry sports bras in speciality sizes and one said they carried the Champion line so they are the first one I’ll call.

Today was a rest day - Day 90 - wanted to go work out but have to set priorities - course assignment needs to be done by tomorrow. For some reason I thought I had till Thursday but realized the 21st was Wednesday!! Ahh!! Had a good nap this evening and am about to pull an all nighter. Already took tomorrow off work - may as well take advantage of a few sick days while I still have them!! Yoga sounds like a great idea for study breaks during the my writing marathon tonight!!

I have decided that I will have to back off my training for the next few weeks until my job ends and I have more time on my hands. After a full day at work, and a good workout I just don’t have the energy to do any quality studying in the evenings. My stress level is high and I have to make adjustments so I don’t get overwhelmed so soon in my course. These next few weeks at work are always a whirl wind as we get ready for the Athletic Banquet. I do the behind the scenes organization of awards and it is very time consuming. With almost 30 teams and about 300 athletes (some playing on several teams) it is a lot to keep track of. I start my spreadsheets in the fall and have extensive lists to sort out!! (If coaches would just hand back the sheets I give them to gather info it would be so much easier!!) I will have to talk to my trainer about waiting a bit before starting me on my 4th program. Just thinking about this now takes a bit of a load off my mind and maybe it will give my knees some more time to heal if I just continue with as much as I’ve done in the last week or so. They are feeling pretty good right now. Just did a deep knee bend and stood up and no pain!!

I also found the Champion sports bras to be the best ones readily available (Kohl’s had some as well as a L’Eggs-Hanes-Bali outlet store). I think they also make some less-supportive models, but mine actually has hooks in the back and is not stretch-only. There’s definitely more support than the regular ones. I wear the two I have almost exclusively now, so one is always hanging in the shower drip-drying. I still have some of the other, cheaper sports bras, but wore them over the top of a regular minimizing bra. They push in but didn’t hold up, and the regular bra vice-versa.  People here and at class have also mentioned the Title Nine sports bras, which have up to a “five barbell” hold on the parts that would otherwise bounce. They’re a little pricy, but I definitely would get the wear out of them. And it’s the one size for me that hasn’t changed in the past year and a half. Though they look smaller… I think a benefit of putting on some shoulder and arm muscle.

So glad to read that your knees are feeling better!

Oh Bra Talk!  I bought the Wal*Mart bra, and its so comfortable and it does what it should do. You can wear it, and still look nice without fearing spillage (nudge, nudge, and you know what I mean...LOL) Highly suggested.  I own Candace’s Champion bra as well, definitely love that one too!! This is the one to buy no matter what your routine is: Low or High Impact Activities, she’s right nuttin moves...LOL Buy them both; one to wear and one to air.  One more suggestion:  JC Pennys- wonderful sports bra and the attendents will assist you with the perfect fit.

I’m so sorry to read that your knee is bothering you Catherine, hope its healing well. You deserve a break to mend and to get things in order, looks like your going to have your hands full tho. Pace yourself, Breath.  Just remember to prop that leg up, use ice not heat. Take good care of yourself too. Plus have those coaches come to you, deligate Lady deligate!  Silly ppl tongue rolleye

You ladies crack me up… sorry to all the men reading my thread these days… maybe just a bit to much info here!!  But all great.  I kinda have my heart set on a Champion bra… just have to find one here in Toronto.  Many of the stores you ladies listed are only in the States.

Suzzy ... if I waited till they came to me they wouldn’t have trophies to hand out to their MVP’s, MIP’s etc.!!  We have to get those ordered pronto!!

Yesterday - Day 91 - rest day - chained to my desk working on my computer on assignments (took the day off work)

Today - Day 92 - Yeh!  Managed to get a workout in.  I really needed it!  I didn’t think it was going to happen, but one of the elementary schools that was supposed to come and visit the high school today cancelled so I ended up with a free afternoon.  I was still chained to the computer most of the day organizing “the lists”, but can’t do any more until the coachs hand in their stuff.  I did get some moving in chasing down several coaches with outstanding items. During last period I managed to sneak down into the weight room for a good hour and did my CCT routine.

Short workout today - Day 93 - 1/2 hour on the bike and some stretching.

Tonight I saw Fiddler on the Roof put on by the Music Theater dept of my school.  It was terrific.  I really enjoyed it!!  It is great to see so many of the faces we see in the halls every day put on such a professional looking play!!

I just love amateur theatrics.  Two of my nieces were in plays/musicals during their high school years and I loved going to see the performances.  I also go to the performances put on by the University of Vermont Theatrical department.  They are all very professional and of course much cheaper than going to a professional production.

I think its a good idea to slow down on the workouts right now.  You have too many other things going on.  Do enough to make you feel good and help to relieve some of the stress but don’t worry if you don’t have time for much.

Ahh… Done - the first round of assignments for my course - 3 more to go!

Yesterday - Day 94 - really, really, really wanted to go to the gym for a good workout, but I was determined to complete my assignment first.... and it always takes more time than I think it will!! Stayed up till the wee hours so it wouldn’t be hanging around today.  Didn’t even get to go out for a walk around the neighbourhood ... it was actually getting light out when I went to bed.

Today - Day 95 - CCT Session with my trainer. We decided to stick to my current program for another little bit, partly because I need to back off for the next few weeks, and partly because he had just gotten back home a day late from Arizona due to flight problems. He had had more sleep than me last night, but he had been up for over 30 hours on his trip home. He hadn’t had time to plan my new routine fully. It was a good workout and a chance to for him show me some of the things he is thinking of adding. It is going to get more complicated again with three different days focusing on different body parts on different days. But he said he wants to hit the legs daily. It seems like a more “standard” weight training program (i.e. the type of plan many people use).

Hoping to get in some cardio tomorrow. Have a busy week ahead work wise.

Thanks Candace...only four more days to reach 100, but in reality, many many many many many more.

Day 96 - 1 hour on the bike (20 recumbent, 20 stationary, 20 recumbent - with stretching sessions between). The bike worked out well for me today. Unfortunately when I got on and got myself all set up I discovered my iPod was dead - likely because I didn’t turn it off last time (I hope that is all it is!!), but it didn’t really bother me since I was planning on doing some course reading anyway. I was going to listen to some rock rather than the dance stuff I use to really get pumping, but I plugged into the TV (news) just to have noise to block out the people around me - worked ok but music would have been better. I was surprised at how well I was able to read (it wasn’t in-depth stuff though) and keep my HR at a respectable level. (130+)

I am feeling yesterday’s workout with my trainer… good pain right? He taught me a new back exercise and I didn’t think I had connected to the muscle well at the time. I guess I did!
