Hello everyone
I haven’t been around for such a long time as I sold my apartment and moved house and 300 miles away from London.
I now live in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside and have taken several months to settle in here as it is a completely different lifestyle I now have.
Negative points:
1) I have to drive everywhere (after 10 years of NOT driving, very difficult to adapt)
2) I cannot walk out of my house and down the road anymore (no pavements, very fast country drivers, small country lanes!!)
3) I cannot get a membership to a gym within a 10 mile radius (fully booked up or not suitable)

I could go on and on and on.

Positive points:
1) Have a bicycle to ride!! Excellent fun
2) The Lake District on my doorstep. I can walk for miles and miles and miles in beautiful countryside
3) I have a new job where I finish at 4.30pm so I have more time in the evenings
4) My fiance is away from home for 4 days a week

So I decided to come back to the 100 day challenge with my Nike+ which has also challenged me to 207 km in 12 weeks so I thought what a great idea to kill two birds with one stone and be motivated to move in MTM land.

Hope everyone is well and will catch up with everybody’s progess eventually!!!

I just noticed I joined 14th May 2007, almost one year to the day. Spooky.

Day One

4.7 walk / jog / shuffle in 35 minutes
Followed by a stretching DVD.
Enjoyed it very much and had a great salad with assorted smoked fish for supper.

Welcome back Amanda.  Life does ‘get in the way’ sometimes....

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Thanks for the welcome Tom! grin grin

Day two

Man Alive, what a hard day I had today....

I woke up at 4.45am confused because the morning sun rises so early at this time of year. I couldn’t get back to sleep so decided to get up and go for an early morning walk / jog / wobble around the lake which is just over 2k all the way around. I went around it three times and was in total awe of the wildlife at that time of the morning.

Then decided to go in the garden and do a few jobs I had been putting off for ages now.

I chopped down two trees and carted about 50 wheelbarrow journeys with branches, clippings, weeds etc until 4pm in the afternoon, only stopping for a quick bite to eat and a cup of tea.

I had to finish at 4pm as I could not physically do anymore.

I am now going to have a nice meal, then later tonight a bubble bath and a very early night!!!

Welcome back, Amanda! Your new home sounds delightful. And I understand about missing the convenience of city life. Enjoy the bubble bath and early bedtime!

Hi Bree, Hi Suzanne

Nice to hear from you again wink You guys are doing fantastically well. WELL DONE you have been working so hard and you still have the momentum to keep it going after all these days / weeks / months.. Great stuff!!

Day Three

Because I nearly gave myself an injury yesterday, decided today was a good day for a rest day. Although I did do a lot of pottering about the garden for most of the morning as it was lovely and sunny today.

Still a bit sore after yesterday so will do a few stretches and that will be it for me today.

Have a good day everyone grin

DAY FOUR
Ended up working late at the office, had to go to the garage before it closed, got back home late, had to water the garden because we haven’t had any rain for like - a month...... also had to clean the two cars so I call that my workout for today.

I think it’s exercise, I certainly felt like I had done exercise.

(The watering of the garden was done with a can filled up about 20 times from the tap...)

DAY FIVE

Not a good day today. Went to the Lake and had a 4 lap walk scheduled. Unfortunately because of the warm weather, all the midge eggs have hatched and they were everywhere. There was no way I could have jogged, I would have swallowing lungfulls of midges (protein??  gulp )

So just had one lap round the Lake tonight which is 2k and unfortunately went via the Chinese take away. I haven’t had Chinese food since leaving London in September and had such a desire to eat that I ordered enough food for two people and have eaten 3/4 of it.

Tomorrow I hope to get back to my longer jaunts but with the midges, it’s so difficult. If it’s no good tomorrow, I’ll go for a bike ride instead.
