Thanks Shawn, Emmi and Anne… the weight stayed down again today!! Yah! So lets call it!! I’ve made my first 10% (25 lbs) On to the next mini goal. Another 10% and below 200!!

Day 82 - short swim (1/2 hour) ... I’m starting to get water logged. May do some abs and stretching, but I’m having a hard time staying awake this eventing…

Yes Anne. I am wearing my HR monitor in the pool. I didn’t think it was possible either and I can’t remember what gave me the idea, but Jarmo confirmed that it was safe to use it in the pool so I gave it a try and it works just fine!! Not a special one - the same one I use for my regular workouts.
I haven’t used the nike sensor much since I am swimming so much to give the knees a break. But it is kinda fun to be able to track my walks.

Good tip Shawn - I keep a little bottle of laundry detergent in my locker and wash out my suit and the strap when I’m done.

Yes it does!! So do the compliments I am starting to get from people who are noticing the changes!!

Yesterday - Day 83 - CCT session at the gym. Mixed up the order (to work around other people) and added in a few extra exercises.

Today - Day 84 - 1 hour LVSB on the bike at the new Womens only Goodlife that opened up this week. Right knee didn’t feel good so I lowered the resistance. Was watching TV so no tunes to get me moving quicker and hardly got my HR in my training zone, but I still sweat a lot. Feeling tired and feeling a chocolate craving tonight… hmmm.

I have a doctor’s appointment in a few weeks (that was scheduled months ago). I think I have to add my knees to the list of things to talk to her about.

yah .. I know the stuff off the shelf is not very good for you, but that is what is available right now..... and unfortunately I am not a fan of dark choclate ... but I love milk choclate.  Just have to treat myself in moderation.  Now for some soy milk and off to bed soon.

Wow, congrats, Catherine! 10% is a nice milestone to celebrate. I remember when my weight loss started becoming visible. I noticed some people spoke right up about it and some people didn’t. Found that aspect really interesting. Eventually, you just can’t help notice. smile

My own weight’s been up and down again. But three people said to me today, “did you lose more weight?” I think it’s the broader shoulders thing, I really do. In a dress, it makes my waist look smaller.

I’m glad your HRM works in the pool. Someone had advised me not even to wash my strap, though I did, in a sink full of suds, I just didn’t submerge the ‘business’ part of it. Hope you had a good night’s rest! I’m about to. These Wednesday nights get kind of late. —Ann

Thank you for the confirmation Brandon and Anne and Shawn and Joan and Chad and everyone else!! Your messages of support and knowing that I am still making progress are what are keeping me moving right now, but it’s been tough the last few weeks.

Today -Day 85 - was another rest day - not in the plan, but really not up to hitting the weights today.

I am really struggling to keep myself moving. I have been feeling really tired. The “news” about my impending lay-off a few weeks ago kinda threw me for a loop and my mood and sleep patterns are a bit messed up still (stay up too late - don’t want to get up in the morning - have a nap when I get home - stay up too late… it’s a vicious circle). Also I have much more added to my plate with the course I am taking. I have to get myself back on an even keel at least until my contract is done in 3 weeks, then I will have tons of time to work on my course, focus on the application process to get hired as a teacher and get my workouts in.

Even though I am really tired today, I was busy at work despite not having any classes today. I had to do some organization to get ready for the schools Athletic Banquet the first week of June, but there are still several coaches (including the principal!) who have not handed me their team lists. So I had to go around and remind them and I even gave out a notice a week ago that today was the deadline!! This afternoon was our “Viking Challenge” (i.e. play day). The weather was nice, but there is so much going on in the school that not very many kids participated. I just go out to help supervise and of course provide first aid if necessary. We had one injury. A kid tripped on the track and took a nickel sized layer of skin off his palm. Looked pretty nasty (I will leave the gross details out for the squeamish) so I told him to have it looked at by a doctor to prevent infection. He was old enough that we didn’t need to call home - he could get to a clinic on his own. To end my day I had an appointment with my Chiropractor. He held me hostage for an hour and a half!! I wasn’t clock watching as I was trying to get some reading done and was shocked when I got out and saw the time!! I got to the appointment 15 minutes early and they put me in right away, but the knee treatments alone took 40 minutes and waiting around for him to come back and change the settings after every 10 minutes eats a lot of time, then he did the back adjustment.

Thanks for reading all that. I don’t normally give the rundown of my day, but for some reason I kept typing - it must be the fog in my brain today.

That’s ironic Catherine that we were both at the chiropractor’s today for our knees. I hope yours feels better. Mine didn’t hurt but now it feels normal again. I made another appointment for Monday because I expect it will be “out” again by then.

Can you walk around school a bit to get some exercise in? I didn’t do it today because I was there for only a half day, but when I’m in for a full day, I make sure I go up and down the stairs a few times and walk briskly around the halls.

unfortunately I am not a fan of dark choclate ... but I love milk choclate

I used to be the same way until I discovered Dove Dark Chocolate Promises. They are very creamy and delicious.  I bring 3 chocolates to work with me every day and have one when I need a little pick me up.

Ok - I haven’t really been AWOL but I haven’t posted to my own thread in a few days. Just been keeping up with all of yours.

Friday - Day 86 - another rest day - two in a row. Scrambling all morning to complete the lists for athlete tickets for the Athletic Banquet so they could start giving them out at lunch. Still chasing down team lists from certain coaches… still a few more on my hit list! After school I was just feeling too tired to workout.

Saturday - Day 87 - CCT session at the new Women’s Only Goodlife. Got there an hour before close so I had to rush to get it all in - dropped one set of back rows, and bicycles (ab exercise) entirely to get done before I had to go. Didn’t even have time to stretch.

Sunday - Day 88 - Went on a mission to find some new sport bras… very unsuccessful… anyone know of a good store with a good selection of sport bras in Toronto? Tried the National Sport store and several stores in the mall, but all they had were “fashion” type sport bras. No real quality ones in my size. I did find the “For Woman Only...” thread in the directory about bras and am really interested in the Champion line, but I don’t want to order something online that really needs to be tried on to see if it fits and will do the job I want it to.

Finally gave up and hit the gym. Was supposed to be a cardio day and started off with 20 min on the recumbent bike. Was planning on trying the arc trainer after, but also wanted to try a few other machines they had that they don’t have in the Women’s area at the other location. The glut machine is great!! They have an assisted pull up machine that I want to try but didn’t have the nerve to do it just yet. Saw someone else on the arc trainer and decided it would be too much for my knees and so I have to stick to the bike but wanted to get in some ab work since I skipped out on it the day before. Got a stability ball and did some crunches. Then got down on the mat for some bicycles, reverse crunches and some stretching. Wasn’t watching the time and only had 10 min for a second cardio session on the bike before closing time. Total workout time was 1.5 hours so that wasn’t bad.

Today - Day 89 - Had to go to the gym location by my school because the women’s only one was closed. Good cardio circuit training session. Had aspirations to do an easy cardio session on the bike after (my only choice right now for my knees), but I seem to be coming down with a cold and figured I’d better not push it.

I started having a but of a tickle in my throat on Friday, it’s not sore at all, but I was coughing a bit. Now it is in my nose, (sneezing and running - at least it can if I can’t yet!). I’m sure this has something to do with me letting myself get so over tired last week. I’ve slept a lot this weekend, but I’m paying for it anyway. Will have to make a better effort to be sure I get to bed at a reasonable time every night this week, along with getting my vitamins!!
