A BRAND NEW DAY AND A BRAND LIFE-CHANGING PATHS

I was fired today-don’t quite feel truly bad about it but am a little scared at being unemployed.  confused sick

It should help my diet as I will be watching my food budget. cheese

Any job hunting advice or hints would be very welcome.  I had worked there for 14 years, only had one other permanent job downer before it and was never good about job hunting.

Oh M - that is not good news - being fired has got to be scary.

I have never been good at job huning.  My current job “fell out of the sky and landed in my lap” when I was at the end of my rope at my previous job.  I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I have always been thankful to the woman who gave my name to the school.  The job has opened so many more doors for me, but it is time for me to move on and I should be hitting the job hunt trail too.  I am terrified by it… which is why I have avoided it.  But there have been some major changes and if everything goes the way I hope I will get laid off before I have to quit.  That way I qualify for EI.  (Sorry if that doesn’t make sence - there is a lot of background info not explained here)

Sorry to hear that Muscles, look at it as an opportunity to do something for yourself, I had a blast when I was unemployed and ended up better than where I started, I wish the same thing for you my friend!

Well It happened… I shouldn’t have been suprised by it but I was caught of guard.... I have no job come early June.  I will finish out my current contract and then I get the push out the door!  It acutally works for me, but for not so much for the other people who got “surplused” that were in the same position as me in other schools.  I’ve had my emotional melt down and the women in the PE department were great and supportive.  I really love them, and they will be life long friends, but I have known that I needed to move on from my support staff roll and and really get into the profession I am qualified for (teaching).  It is still scary though.

So I am joining you on the job hunt trail.  How is it going for you.?

Wow, Catherine, just five days after your original post.  Very scary.

I went to the library yesterday, got some books on resumes & cover letters.  Also picked up “What color is your parachute”.

I registered for Unemployment and got a PO box (I have some licenses that the address will be posted publicly so I do not my home address listed).

I am checking monster.com, craigslist.com, the local city & county websites, larger local business websites and the EDD.

I will be working on my resume this weekend (& reading), filling out some applications and lots of house cleaning to improve the feng shui energy in the house (& me).

Sunday May 4-I MOVED! (A LOT!) Finally!!

On Friday I joined the gym that is down the street.  Today I went for my first workout.

I did a mile on a bike in a little over 6 minutes and then did a mile on the treadmill in 28 minutes.  I will be going for a walk this afternoon.

Good luck with the job hunt. Glad to see you’ve joined the gym. The more you use it, the better you’ll feel.
