Hello Northern CA friends,

My name is Lisa and I live in beautiful San Francisco. I am thrilled to be a MTM premium member. I’m about 3/4 of the way done with the SMSM program and I love it. It has helped to keep me on track. The guided motivations are really great. Scott knows what he is doing.

I am new to the boards but plan on visiting as often as I can to support my fellow MTMers. I am bummed I missed the Northern CA event earlier this year but we’ll do it again sometime.

I hope you are all having great weekends.

All the best,
Lisa

Hi Lisa

I live in the East Bay, and there is a very healthy MTM community here.  If you want to meet other MTM members, all you need to do is post an idea and I’m sure that others will jump in with you.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope we hear more from you.

You know I have this dream that one day I will move to California and live on and operate a peach orchard(workers recieve generous wages - no illegal activity). A glorious peach orchard. One where you can walk up to a tree and find that perfect peach, you know, the one that when you go to pick it, the skin comes off with a pool of juice. And you’re just clamoring with your mouth before it soaks into the earth. The peach itself is bigger than the softballs I used to get from the nice garbage collectors in Kamloops.........

Oh yes, this is my idea of living.

Hi everyone,

I too live in the East Bay and can easily skip on over to SF.  I am in for the walk on the 11th of August.

Did I understand correctly that there is already a MTM Community here in the East Bay?

Peace to you all

Hey All,

I live in San Francisco..Bernal Heights area...tons of hills for great walks.  I’d be up for joining a group outing...or meeting for a walk with the other locals.

Cheers,
Michelle

Hi all,

Let me know if you’re interested in a hike in Tilden Regional Park in the Berkeley East Bay area.  I’d love to have a group hike in that area in the next week or two.

Hey Austin,

That sounds great! When were you thinking and how long would the hike be?

Hey Mich,

How’s this Saturday at Noon?  I’m OK with tailoring the hike length to those who attend.  I’d probably like to do it for an hour or so.

Anyone else interested in a Tilden Park hike this Sunday at noon?  Here’s the Tilden site:  http://www.ebparks.org/parks/tilden

I’m out.  Have a class from 10 am to 1 pm in San Francisco and have plans for later that day.  Hope to join you on a future hike.

I would love to go, but Sunday looks like it’s going to be a good day to go out the gate (in a kayak of course).  Why walk when I can paddle?  tongue wink

We should plan a get together for Austin’s Marathon day though.  August 3, at the finish?

Hi all,

Very cool to see the interest!  Looks like Saturday is best.  I propose the following.  Let me know if the time doesn’t work for anyone who can do this on Saturday:

Date:  Saturday July 5
Time:  Noon PST
Location:  Tilden Regional Park (East Bay)
Meeting Point:  Entrance to the Environmental Education Center
Location details & map:  http://www.ebparks.org/parks/vc/tna
Length of hike:  Up to the group.  This area offers anywhere from short and easy to more strenuous hikes.  Either way, it’s a beautiful area to get out and move!

About Tilden:

Tilden Nature Area is a 740-acre preserve located just North of Tilden Regional Park. With over 10 miles of hiking trails, the preserve contains a blend of native and introduced plant communities, including oak/bay woodlands, grasslands, eucalyptus forests, and streams. Hikes range from the leisurely, self-guided Jewel Lake Nature Trail to a vigorous climb up Wildcat Peak (elevation 1,211’) for panoramic, San Francisco Bay views. A 750-foot boardwalk through the woods leads to Jewel Lake, a historic reservoir and waterworks, and a peaceful place to watch wildlife.

At Tilden Nature Area one can also find the renowned Environmental Education Center (EEC), headquarters for the area’s interpretive programs, and the historic Little Farm.

Don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions on how to get here.  Also, anyone interested in doing a picnic?  There are a lot of areas here where we can set up for lunch, or my house is just arond the corner and I have a great deck we could eat on with bay views.

See you Saturday!

Austin

Oh… I wish I could join you… but the drive would be a bit far.  Looks like a fun event!
