Way to go Tammy! I can go way longer outside. On the treadmill I am lucky to get 2 miles in. But for some reason outside, I listen to my Ipod, look at the surroundings, and I can just go longer! Try it out!
Way to blow that 1 mile a day goal out of the water!! Good job!!
I went and got my nike sensor today… but I’m still waiting to receve the sensor pocket thingy in the mail. (I actually ordered two - they are pretty cheap - navy blue and purple) I’m not sure how long that will take. I tried just sticking the sensor in my sock and went for an easy neighbourhood walk this evening. Didn’t work the greatest. I walked up to the drug store (to get a pill case for my morning vitamins) and it just went downhill from there. I guess it wasn’t detecting constant movement so it said workout paused. When I tried to resume it it kept re-pausing. I stopped several times to reset (turn off then on) the sensor. I did finally get it to work again but since I haven’t calabrated it yet it basically worked as a fancy timer. I’ll have to have a session on the treadmill to calibrate it and see if it works better- then I’ll have to check out the nike site and join in the challange.
I was going to walk my mile today so I could do the 1 mile a day for 30 days...but my heel didn’t want to cooperate. So, I’m going to have to start that one over again tomorrow.
Catherine, hopefully once you get your shoe pouch it will help keep your sensor working right. Maybe it was giving you some problems because it was moving around in your sock...That couldn’t have been very comfortable either
lol actually it wasn’t that bad. I quite often store my lip balm in my sock at work when I am wearing an outfit that doesn’t have pockets!! I forgot it there one day when I went to my chiropractor - he was a bit confused when he was manulipating my leg - couldn’t figure out the long bump in my ankle!!
If your blisters are bothering you, try soaking them is some Epsom salt and warm water for 15 min. It’s like a miracle. Dries them right up. I did it last night!
I can only imagine what your doctor must have been thinking when he first felt the lipbalm!! My feet were still bothering me some on Monday, so I took one more day off. After today’s walk, I think I irritated them again. So, tomorrow it’s off to the store to buy some epsom salt!!
Candy...who is Jacobsmama and how can we hide her nike sensor?!! lol...I’m extremely impressed by her numbers. I just saw today that she’s in Canada. I wonder if it’s still cold up there. However, I think we’ve both done well too!!
Hey ... I’m up in Canada too… we don’t all live in Igloos… (just kidding). I’m in the most southern part of the country so we are starting to see some nicer temps. Last week I wore short pants to work all week, but this week it is back to long pants.
I am taking tomorrow off work so after my CCT session I may opt to double up and do some cardio too. My trainer says I’m allowed to go easy if it is after weights so I just might see how many miles I can log in an hour walk. Then I’ll sign up on the nike site… if I can figure out my sensor… Wish me luck!
Snow? What’s that? OHHH....is that the white stuff that we see a centimeter of once every 15 years in South Texas?!! I have no doubt that you Canadian’s are great walkers! The few I’ve met on this forum could kick my butt any day!
Candy, Good job passing Jacobsmama! I haven’t been able to walk for the past couple of days because of those dang blisters. I have three on one foot. One is about the size of a quarter on the ball of my foot, one is about 2 inches long on the heel and one encompasses my entire pinky toe (underneath). They have popped (sorry..that sounds so gross), which I thought might have helped, but they’re extremely sensative, like a burn. I tried the epsom salt thing. It definitely dried them up but they are still very sore. I know if I walked on them I’d just make them worse again. I’ve been wearing flip flops all week to work (my boss loves that!) hoping less friction would make them heal faster. I’m about to go to the store and see if I can find any of that second skin stuff and see if that will work. I need to get out there, I’m soooo far behind right now. It’s killing me!!
