Day 3
I didn’t do any formal exercising, however I was running around like crazy! We went and visited with a gentleman about building a garage (including a second floor for storage and our exercise equipment!), then went to my mother-in-laws and did some handyman work around there, then went to my parents’ house. They are trying to sell their house, so we were there while the inspector was doing his thing, then we took them out to dinner.
Day 4
Again, didn’t do any exercising today. I ran errands and cleaned up around the house a bit. I’ve been getting most of my water intake, which has been a big issue for me. Tomorrow is the beginning of our Nike Challenge. I’m looking forward to that. I think the mileage on my sensor is a little off though because it said I only went 2.18 miles during my 5K...so it was off by a mile or so there. I’ll try to calibrate it this week.
Goals for tomorrow:
Drink 8 glasses of water
Spend 30 minutes on the treadmill
Track my food intake.
Hey Tammy! It’s pretty easy to calibrate your sensor. You definitly don’t want to get a whole mile lost! I only did 1.85 today. But it’s only day 1! So, get your boodie out there!
Day 5
36 minutes Walk (goal #2 complete)
2.00 miles
Drank 10 glasses of water (goal #1 complete)
I didn’t track my food today. Need to work on that.
Candy...great job!! I would have stopped at my 30 minutes, but I had to beat 1.85 miles....See?? It’s working already! I’m tired, but I think I’ll sleep well tonight. It’s very depressing to see how low my fitness level has gone since being a bum after my 100 day challenge. But, as long as I’m working on it, that’s all that matters! I’m glad you’re doing this with me Candy!
Hey Shawn!! It’s good to see you again!! As it is Emily and Bree as well!
Day 6
Well, I’m pushing you too much today!
1.09 miles
I ate wayyy too much for dinner. I didn’t feel much like walking, but I knew I had to if I wanted a chance to beat Candy for the over miles. Right now I’m only down by a couple of miles....I can make that up!!
Day 7
2.19 miles
After finishing my workout, Lance Armstrong came on and said “congratulations this is the longest workout you’ve had so far”. That was a little odd, but nice! I’m curious to see what else they have hidden in there!
I looked into the nike sensor today at the mall and they didn’t know anything about a pocket for the sensor and that you had to get the shoes. What else do you know about the pocket? Is is an after market thing or something Nike markets? The first guy at the store told me it also took heart rate -but I can’t see how if it doesn’t even contact the skin. I will look at the nike site to see what else I can find out.
Hey Catherine....it’s not a Nike thing. Nike wants you to buy the shoes....of course! Look here: http://podophile.com/2006/07/14/shoe-hacker-nikeipod-sport-kit-shoe-mod/ they used velcro. Or, check this here: http://grantwoodtechnology.com/shoepouch/ I hope I can put those websites on here!! Those are some options. And..NO it does not tell you your heart rate. You’re right...how can it tell you that through your shoe? Maybe one day, but not now. So, for the wrist band, the sensor, and the shoe pouch (or velcro) you’ll be spending around $90...or so.
I hope that helps! Time for me to go home so I can get my exercise in!!
Thanks so much Tammy - I just ordered the shoepouch form grantwood technology!! Now I’ll go and get the sensor this weekend and then I can start to see how it works with my iPod. Should be fun.
I’m glad you’re joining us as well Catherine!! What color of shoe pouch did you buy?!
I think I’m going to go walk the greenbelt trails in Kingwood this weekend. I usually walk on a treadmill at home, so it will be nice to be able to walk around outside....with trees!! I have a goal of walking or running 1 mile a day for 30 days. We’ll see if I can make it. But, it’s just a mile, right?! It’s the 30 days straight that’s a little scary. I know people say that you should rest, but I think if I take my rest days and make them slow easy 1 mile walks, it’ll be fine. That’s 30 miles in a month!! So far, I’ve only gone 4 days, so I’ll be counting those days down too, if you’re wondering what the (4) is.
Hey Shawn! We’d invite you to join us, but not one under a 12 minute mile is allowed!!
