Well this form has been dormant for a while, but I was just directed to it… and it is a great dose of inspiration… now I know I have something to shoot for!! I don’t yet have an “after” pic… but maybe after my first 10% I’ll post an “in progress” picture.
I just skimmed through it, one day it would be good to actually read through it, but looking at the pictures alone is very motivating. Anyone got any updates?
No photo updates, but I did have an amusing situation the other day. I was at the doctor’s getting some vaccinations (Julie, the living pincushion!). When I walked in, he asked me “did you lose weight?” The answer is no, but he asks me every single time I go. Apparently, he’s still go the image in his head of me being 25 pounds heavier than I am now, so he notices my weight “loss” every time!
Catherine,
Thank you for reviving this post. I just scanned through the pictures and it has giving me new inspiration. I, too, am not ready to post before and current pictures. But I will when I get below 200.
Sounds good Eileen - I have decided on another goal - to get rid of all the “2"s associated with my weight (size 20, 2X, 200lbs - will likely go in that order).
Hey Julie - that is amusing. I had a similar experience with my doctor. She thought I had lost wt. too and I had recently lost my first 10 lbs, but it was the 10lbs I had gained last year and she hasn’t seen me in almost 2 years. When I saw her this time I likely weighed about the same as I did when I last saw her ... Don’t know how she could tell?! But she did encourage me to continue in my efforts. My next appointment with her is at the end of my 100 day challenge - it would be nice to be down considerably by then.
Glad I just gave this thread CPR and not a real person… (if you read my 100 day challenge thread, page 3, you’ll know just how true that statement really is!!)
Scott thanks for the updated pics!! I wish I was brave enough to stand by the pool for a photo op… but I still tend to run the other way when someone brings out a camera. I’m a bit jealous of your sunny, warm location. Here it is gray and rainy which is washing away the mounds of white snow we have.
You and Joi look really happy together. Congratulations on your engagement… only one month till the big day!! You’ll both look terrific on your Wedding Day.
Trust me… it wasn’t that long ago that I would NEVER stand by the pool and let anyone take a picture of me with no shirt. A little hard work and everything changes. Although I’m not sure my Mom and Carlyn would agree.
And yes… Joi and I are very happy.
I have to admit - I am one blessed man. This is a great relationship that gets better with every day. I can’t wait to marry this wonderful woman and make her my wife.
Thanks for the compliment Julie… sorta. You know? I’m sure I would look better if I stopped hanging around Joi. But what fun is that?
Joi does look fantastic! Then when you find out she will turn 44 in April… well that just makes it even more amazing. She really works at it and always has. I’m a lucky guy that’s for sure.
ok, seeing this thread compelled me to post this picture after losing 97 lbs over the past 13 months. The one on the left was taken in 2005 and the one on the right was taken while vacationing in Austria 2 weeks ago. Too bad I have heavy coats in both pictures however the contrast is enough to give you an idea.
It’s always a shock to see how far one has come, so I am feeling very humbled by this accomplishment.
Whoa Dave… you’re looking pretty good! er… professionally speaking that is.
When I read you were feeling “Humbled” I had to smile.
Just last night I was sitting on the sofa with Joi talking about how different my body is now than it ever has been. I said, “I’m proud but I almost don’t believe it. I’ve got to get used to it”.
Then Joi made a great comment. She said, “Sometimes I forget this is so new to you”.
After losing 82 pounds with a few more to go and totally transforming myself - I’m feeling a bit humbled myself.
Looking great Dave! And Scott! Hubby was teasing me that I’m on the site so much so I can see shirtless men. But he’s on the elliptical right now, so maybe that’s the motivation he needs!
