"Fuel” by Metallica is one of those songs that can really get my legs moving for some serious hard out cardio work.  When I hear James say, “Give me Fuel, Give me Fire, Give me that which I Desire.” This is a serious call out to my body that today we are going to kick it hard, really hard.  That and Lars on the Drums making it sound like a Freight Trian coming through.  I reserve this song for one day a week, so I don’t abuse this special power that this song has over my cardio workout.

Another good one that is kind of chessey but gets me moving is “Eye of the Tiger” by Surviour.  For me it is the images of some of my favorite Rocky movies that can get me moving.

These two songs are two of my most favorite get me moving songs.  Enjoy

I’ve got a whole slew of stuff in my Workout Music playlist in my iPod, but the recent additions that I love are Kanye West’s “Stronger” and The Chemical Brothers’ “Galvanize”.  Both have great beats and awesome, motivating lyrics.

“That that don’t kill me can only make me stronger!”

“Don’t hold back!”

Switchfoot’s Dare you to move seems strangely appropriate

Oh my gosh folks, I have just heard the BEST song to get you moving, hip shaking and perhaps leave the wall and actually hit the dance floor!!!!!!  This makes me run with a bit of “flava”....think young Stevie Wonder.....

It was played in my Jazzercise class on Saturday.  Do people know what a 45 is any more?

My new favorite is “Jimmy” by M.I.A.  It’s a remake of a 70s Indian disco song.  Fun!!!

Thanks for the great suggestions!
For my cardio, I generally use the elliptical set to program 8; what else, Fat Burner?!
This is the list I use to get me through two 30 minutes sessions.  Tracks 7 and 8 run together to get me through the larger gap between programs.
1.  Hyperventilating 3:33 Tami Chynn
2.  Two Princes 4:17 Spin Doctors
3.  Time to Start 3:44 Blue Man Group
4.  Black Horse and the Cherry Tree (Radio Version) 2:52 KT Tunstall
5.  Soak Up the Sun 4:52 Sheryl Crow
6.  Pride 3:50 U2
7.  Beautiful Day 4:08 U2
8.  Accidentally In Love 3:11 Counting Crows
9.  Big Yellow Taxi 3:45 Counting Crows
10.  Where The Streets Have No Name 4:37 U2
11.  Linger 4:35 The Cranberries
12.  You Really Got Me 2:38 Van Halen
13.  American Woman 4:21 Lenny Kravitz
14.  Love Shack 5:22 The B-52’s
15.  Mysterious Ways 4:03 U2

Ok, here’s what I listened to this week ...

Warm-up
Junkhead - Alice in Chains
Ecstacy of Gold - Metallica
Set It Off - Audioslave

Weights and Cardio
Du Hast - Rammstein
Stone Cold Crazy - Metallica
Walk - Pantera
Bombshell - Powerman 5000
Whatever - Godsmack
Demon Speeding - Rob Zombie
Remedy - Seether
Debonaire - Dope
Rise - Disturbed
War Nerve - Pantera
Click, Click, Boom - Saliva
Gasoline - Audioslave
Let It All Bleed Out - Rob Zombie
I Don’t Wanna Stop - Ozzy Osbourne
Rollin’ - Limp Bizkit
Feuer Frei - Rammstein
Again - Alice in Chains
Vampires - Godsmack
March of Hope - Dope
Conflict - Disturbed
Ironhead - Rob Zombie/Ozzy Osbourne
Blue Monday - Orgy
Fuel - Metallica
Zwitter - Rammstein

Cool Down
Sonne - Rammstein
Darkness - Rage Against the Machine
Relax - Powerman 5000
Serenity - Godsmack

This is really aggressive music.  It kind of punches you in the face and some songs contain explicit lyrics.  When I am feeling less than motivated, this is the kick in the pants that gets me going.  It takes angry music to make me happy.  Most of it is fast and I bust my rump just trying to keep up.

Next week I will probably listen to ‘80s pop. INXS, Men Without Hats, etc. Something a little less nosebleed.

Derek, I’ve just got this brilliant image of you pumping weights to Rammstein.  Awesome!

If I’m out running I can listen to all sorts of stuff.  If I’m in the gym it’s just got to be louder than the awful aural torture they force on you.  On days when I struggle, I’ll listen to Black Flag ‘cos that gets me so wound up that I’m not going to be beaten by anything!
