Your still doing AMAZING things Catherine; Congrats on your 100 days! I’m so glad to read that your Dad’s still smoke free, and recouping from such a scary ordeal!  Your a good daughter for doing all that hard work on his office, he will love it! Awwww how sweet!  Now about the monitor...hehehe Mine does read on other ppl’s treadmills and bikes too, and I cant help giggling because a person or two noticed it. Hey what can I say, its my motivation and I’m keeping it until someone protests.  That hasn’t happened yet.  I didnt realize that I can wear the monitor in the pool, wow.  Since reading your thread about your pool life I’ve been looking into some swim classes at the YMCA- lots to choose from and not sure where to start. Now heres a little question for you… Can the clorine in the pool turn my highlights in my hair Green, or is that a myth?

Have a super weekend!

Cathrine maybe you need to adjust your routine, some times you can lower your weights if you feel you can not finish your session, but good on you for sticking it out!

Hey Suzzy - good to hear from you!! I’d start out with a shallow water aquafit class and go from there. And unfortunately the chlorine will turn blond hair a bit green if you swim a lot and don’t use a good chlorine removing shampoo after. I’ve only seen it under florescent lighting though. I was covering a science class earlier this year and one of my swim team girls was in it. I noticed her hair had a green tinge. When I told her - she thought it was great - she’d had pink hair before so green was fine with her now!! Kids are funny ..lol. If I am actually swimming I often put conditioner on my hair and wear a cap to keep the chlorine off. Just don’t take the cap off and then dunk your head because all that conditioner is hard on the filter system for the pool.

Shawn - the weights I am using for my current program are already quite low. Since I am in a cardio circuit weight training program I am using lighter weights and higher reps. (30 per set or 1 minute). While I have been playing with starting to increase the weight a bit for certain exercises I did go back down for a few exercises yesterday so I’d be able to complete the set. For example: in my last program I was lifting 90 lbs for lat pulldowns (12-15 reps per set) while I was still in a muscle building phase. My current program is for burning fat so I have dropped the weight down to 50 lbs to be able to get the 30 reps in. It was starting to feel easy so in my last two workouts I tried 60 lbs, but for my last set yesterday I had to drop it back down to 50 half way through so I’d be able to get to 30 reps.

I was just plain tuckered out… I’m still feeling tired and headachey today. I’m sticking around the house this morning and getting some light housework done. I may have a nap early this afternoon and if I feel rejuvenated after I may go out for a cardio session.

Hey, count me in as a member of the Saturday Nap Club. Not yet, but I’m headed there (and true to form, all the kids in the apartment complex are playing right outside, but I’m so sleepy I doubt they’ll bother me.) When you challenge the body it challenges you back… hope you have a nice rest. I didn’t realize how much my legs were feeling it today until I set out. Tells me I did more than I thought I had.

Do you find you are sleeping better since you began your exercise regimen? And (a bit off topic) do you dream more or less than before? Someone asked me about dreams recently and I realized I never seem to remember having any anymore.  I do plenty of daydreaming nonetheless!

Catherine, sure hope that nap has you feeling better, headaches are such a bummer. Plus you deserve the rest after a very productive week.. Thank you for the suggestion of the shallow auquafit class, sounds like a wonderful way to start. I’m a Strawberry Blonde with hightlights to hide the Grey, and the thought of green hair just doesnt cut it for me...LOL

Take care of you, be good, and stay cool cool smile

I didn’t get my nap in until after dinner.  I had a migraine all day and really wanted to snooze with an ice pack on my head, but unfortunately there was some major construction going on in the house and there was no point in trying to sleep!!  My migraines are totally hormone related - guess what arrived - hence the pathetic workout friday and a needed rest day yesterday - I didn’t get out for my walk since I didn’t get to have a nap until after dinner.  I slept from 7-10 PM and then was up until about 1:30 doing final preparations for Sunday school this morning.

This morning I woke up and still had my headache, but I usually just work through them anyway.  Taught one 5 year old boy - he was quite bright and took in the storey very well.  But he was young and his attention span started to wander about half way through the 40 minutes I had to fill.  One of the activities was to play hide and seek - it was related to the storey - initially I wasn’t planning on doing it, but at that point I figured it was a good idea.  It’s hard to hide in one room, but he had fun.

I was planning on heading to the gym after a quick lunch at home but decided I still needed to try to alleviate my head - so I grabbed an ice pack and another advil and had a good 2 hr nap.  (the one I really wanted yesterday!!) It was still hanging there a touch but I felt good enough to head to the gym.  I thought it closed at 5 so I’d have time to just get my cardio circuit training in with a short cardio session after.  Half way there I realized I forgot my shoes… but my school was nearby so I snuck in there and got my pair from there instead of having to go back home to get those ones.  It didn’t dawn on me that I also forgot my gloves until I got to the gym, so I went without.  I removed my rings but it was not big deal because all the machines at the gym have nice rubber hand grips that are gentle on the palms unlike some of the rough bars I use at the school.  I got a great workout in!!  Since it was the first time doing my cardio circuit training program at the gym (instead of at school) I had to take a look at all the machines in the women’s area (I still don’t like going out into the co-ed area) and plan exactly what I was going to do.  I had to change a few exercises, and when I got to my last tri-set I had to wait for a few machines so I added in a few extra machines and did complete sets of them too (ie 3 sets of each).  Then I found out I still had another hour before the gym closed and since I was feeling great I hopped on an elliptical for 40 minutes!!  Kept my heart rate up there for both sessions and could have kept going, but I had to leave since they were now closing.  Likely a good thing, so I don’t over do it again.

Still have just a threat of the headache so one more advil before bed and hopefully that will get rid of it totally along with a good nights sleep.

Have a first period class tomorrow - which is usually my workout period (aka prep period) so I’m going to have to see how I’ll plan this week - may have to hit the gym after work rather than the school weight room this week.

Additional Thought:  I was almosted tempted to take today off too because of my head situation, but I got a great boost this morning when I put on my navy dress pants and noticed they were starting to get loose!!  At Christmas they were snug - a month ago they fit well - now they are loose!!  Ya hoo - have a smaller pair waiting in the wings that are now wearable!!  Knowing that all this is working gave me the extra boost to get out the door after my nap and I ended up getting in an awesome workout!!

WTG Catherine… isn’t it great to be able to expand your wardrobe without spending a cent?

I can relate to those migraines… get them myself sometimes… ouch!

Hey Catherine, I know what you mean about the co-ed workout area.  They just remodeled my gym and now it’s all together.  I don’t like it, but I watch what the guys are doing and think someday I might try it too..... when I am more comfortable.

Man, am I spoiled having the weight room at school all to myself!! Today (day 61) I went to the gym rather than staying at school to workout and it was rather annoying trying to get my sets in when it started to get busy about 4:30. I had the same experience as Candy today with people just sitting around on the machines I wanted to use. One woman was actually reading a book on the leg press!! When I asked to work in most were agreeable but one woman continued to rest and said she only had one more set - well so did I and I didn’t want to rest so I did an extra set of something else!!

I couldn’t lift as much for some of the exercises today because I did the same routine two days in a row. I have to do that once a week if I am to get it in 4 sessions in. It didn’t feel as good as yesterday and I am looking forward to only having cardio on the schedule for tomorrow.

Left knee is not liking me either even though I have removed squats and am doing leg press in it’s place. Did the elliptical yesterday and for warm-up today - maybe I should stick to the bike for a while longer. Doing deep knee bends is painful (like when looking for something in the back of the fridge). I have another knee treatment scheduled for tomorrow morning with my chiropractor. Hopefully it will provide some relief.

Sorry Chad… it is one of the perks of working in a high school, but it has it’s drawbacks too.  I have to do some fancy scheduling to be able to get in there alone and some of the machines are pretty old school, but my program is designed with that in mind - so it doesn’t work as well when I have to go to the gym.  There I only have machines to choose from and some dumbells (no bars).... only because I won’t brave the co-ed area.

My turn today to forget my shoes, Catherine! I had the old pair in the trunk, and wow what a difference that made. They felt so used up. A reminder to myself to order a new pair in June. I was up early doing laundry (I love that the laundry room in my building is always empty in the early morning) but I was pushing it to be ready for work, and popped clean workout duds in my bag but no sneaks. I wear the Ryka black versa Mary Janes, which are popular in Jazzercise, though I want to get something different for the gym, like a light cross-trainer.

Sorry your knees are bothering you. And I’m surprised you’re supposed to be doing four resistance workouts per week, as mostly what I’m hearing is the importance of resting the muscles. I finally learned, the day after I work arms at the gym, I’m doing light weights at Jazzercise, even if I feel I can do more. And, I’m jealous of your gym having a women’s area. smile

Good stuff Cathrine, lucky you I switched my workout schedule because I hate going to the crowded gym on Mondays.

Started the day early at the chiropractor for a knee treatment - (thankfully he skipped an adjustment for my back - this is getting pricy!!) Today he did the photo therapy again and then did something different that put an electrc current trough the knee (can’t recall the name right now).  There was one moment where I had to ask him to lighten up on it because I was starting to feel the current too much!! ouch!! But it seemed to help and they felt good after - still sensitive but good - in an odd way.

Day 62 - 1 hour on the bike.  Didn’t push the heart rate today - felt good to move but happy to stay around 135.  Listened to a Quirks and Quarks podcast.  Put some dance music on toward the end of the hour and then it was easier to get the heart rate up above 140… interesting how that works!!
Should go and do some ab work since I have altered my program from what my trainer has in my routine - better go and do his exercise so I can show some improvement when I see him on the weekend.  Stretching will feel good too.

Day 63 - Cardio Circuit Training (CCT)- Good workout with a few extra sets added to the end (adductor/abductor, shoulder and rear delt).  This was the first time to try the rear delt machine - and felt it!!
Short walk with my nephew - he was tired from his day and fell asleep in his stroller right away so I only went around the block once (less than 10 minutes!).  Was thinking of making this a double up day ,but I am meeting at the gym early tomorrow morning for a cardio session so I think I will save my 2nd double up day (CCT + Cardio) till friday this week.

On a happy note I was down another few pounds this morning - was suprised by the number - but I may be a bit dehydrated - I didn’t drink enough water yesterday.
