Here’s what I’ve been listening to:

U2
Vertigo
Rock
A great starting-off song. It’s got a countdown and everything. rasberry

Seal
Fly Like an Eagle
Soul
A cool version of the Steve Miller song--makes me feel like I’m gliding along. smile

Simply Red
Sunrise
Pop/Soul
This one is slow enough for cool-downs, but fast enough for an easy walking/jogging pace.

Justin Timberlake
SexyBack
Pop
Just a fun song with a good beat.

Dead or Alive
You Spin Me Round (Like a Record...)
Dance/Pop

Natasha Bedingfield
Unwritten
Another motivating song with a good beat for walking or slow jogging

Sting
Windmills of Your Mind
Cool jazzy vocal
Definitely a cool-down song.

George Michael
Desafinado
Cool jazzy vocal
Cool-down or stretching

Sting
Brand New Day
Pop
As I’m walking out of the gym into the sunlight. smile

And I admit, I have the theme from “Rocky” on my ipod at all times, just in case I need it. wink

Check out “The Cup of Life” by Ricky Martin.  The first line of the song “Do you really want it?  Do you really want it?” as well as the rest of the lyrics are so Motivation to Move it could be a second theme song!

For my high energy elliptical (and doubles as a running trak) workout, I have a mix of the following: I have them in shuffle mode and when they hit, it’s an instant energy burst!

2 by Lucky Boy Confusion:
Hey Driver
Atari
Rock
High energy rock, especially Hey Driver

4 by Bruce Springsteen off of the Live in NYC CD (Disc 1)
Badlands
Out in The Street
Prove it All Night
Two Hearts
My favorite artist and this album and these songs capture the essence of seeing Bruce Live with the audience participation, especially a NY/NJ crowd.
Brings goosebumps and a jolt just listening to the 4 of them.

Don’t Stop by Fleetwood Mac off of The Dance
Rock
The live version, this one is the one that I try to finish runs/workouts to, when th USC marching band comes on stage and they walk off to the quad drums. What a finish!

Never Been Any Reason by Head East
Rock
Just an oldie but goodie that gets the legs pumping faster.

I Melt With You by Sugarcult
Rock
A punk version of the 80’s staple, high energy and it gets me moving into a higher gear.

Closer to Fine by The Indigo Girls
Acoustic/Rock
I just love the song, the harmonies, the acoustical and 12 string guitars.

"Lips Like Morphine” by Kill Hannah is really energizing.

Also, “I Get Around” by Dragonette. That’s a fantastic electropop song.

Lately for motivation I’ve been listening to “No Compromise” by Paul Oakenfold and “Tuff Enuff” by The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Also try fitPod, for downloadable workout music. You can get it on itunes or at http://www.fitmusic.com/

Mine right now is not really a single song, but when I do my cardio, I listen to the “nocturnal” podcast. It usually runs for about an hour and 20 minutes, so I have no shortage of music for my workouts.
