Hi All

We have had a quite a bit of discussion on Heart Rate Monitors on the 100 Days challenge, but I have a question.

Has anyone tried using a HRM in the pool? I have a Polar a5, and is says it is water resistant to 30 M, but is that just for the watch? Will the chest strap even work under water??? I’m afraid to try it in-case I am wrong and end up destroying it.

Any thoughts are appreciated. I would like to see just how hard I am working in the pool, but don’t want to have to go out and buy another so soon!!

Thanks

I have had the same polar watch for 3 years now. Don’t know the name of it anymore. But it does the weekly weight management “thingy’. I used to use it in the pool a lot when I lived in Kuwait. It was great as I could swim within the target zone I wanted to be in. Which most of the time meant that I increased my intensity…

As I just moved to Doha I have not become a member at any facility as I wanted to wait and see how I like it here. So far so good!! But at the moment I am quite content with my treadmill as I need to loose some weight first.

Thanks Jarmo - so it can be done!!  Yah!  I will try it out.  I guess it was a bit more obvious when you wore it cause everyone would see the chest strap - they won’t see it on me since it will be under my suit.

Thanks again!!

Enjoy your swimming! I used to feel more “serious” when I wore it, as people were kind of wondering what I was up to and checking me out - ok, staring! It definitely made me push harder.
