Hello,

I have been listening to Scott’s podcasts since Christmas 2007 and have really been inspired by them.  It is such a nice simple theme to start moving and stay moving.  I am 6’ 3” and weigh 215 lbs and have always been somewhat active.  I have two yellow labrador retrievers that I walk nearly everyday and 4 children.  Scott has inspired me to stop snacking after dinner and be active.  Since listening to Scott’s message, I have been going to the gym twice a week, playing tennis with the kids twice a week and taking the dogs on a good walk for an hour and a half to a local mountain to get that long
slow burn as he describes.  Mt. Douglas is a 1000 foot mountain with a great path to the top that when done briskly really gets your heart pounding.  I also find that using the cross trainer at the gym and getting my heart rate to 130bpm really helps.

Thanks Scott for such great advice.

Dirk

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Hi,
My goal is to get to 195 lbs by June.  I like to play tennis and having less weight helps move around the court much better.  I was able to get down to 195 lbs in 2005 but I didn’t have an exercise program to help.  I am really impressed with the exercise part of the program.

Thanks

Hi Dirk,

that’s 5 lbs a month, or 1.25 lbs per week.

Eat 500 calories less than your eating now each day and you will see a lb a week fall off

I use http://www.fitday.com to track my calorie intake.... (you have to know how many calories you are eating now, so you know how much 500 calories to remove from your daily diet)

If you exercise each day (or at least 4 of 7 days in a week for 30 minutes where you are breathing hard) you will hit your goal!
