Hi all,

I have listened to 5 MTM podcasts, and now I am ready to start the challenge! I am Sanna, a 32 year old swede living in Lithuania, Eastern Europe, where I have a wonderful hubby and 2 kids. I have always been slightly chubby, most being 72 kg (158 pounds) after the birth of my second child 3 years ago. I am 166 cm (5 foot 5) Well, I had never dieted, but just for fun decided to eat GI foods and ended up at 61 kg (134 pounds).

Well, that was 3 years ago, and since then, my weight has been moderately under control, but still being hooked on sugar, I always have to be careful how much, and what I eat. Now after the holidays I am up at 140 pounds and want to get rid of it for good. I never got going with the exercise so now is the time to begin. I will also abstain completely from sugar in cookies and candy for the months of january and february (except for tomorrow when my hubby’s grandmother turns 80). I will allow myself a small portion of cake. After february I will allow myself one treat a week, on the day of my choosing.

Since I never exercised during or after having the kids, my belly is a disaster area and I want to be able to wear low waiste clothes without having to worry that the Tshirt is too short so my love handles fall out!

I like what Scott says, that he deserves to eat sweets. Well, so far I have done nothing to deserve it, and I want to reach a place where I can say that I deserve treats. I love that rationale!

Being busy with two kids, limited finances and lots of other responsibilities, my main strategy will be to do workouts with DVD. I have one aerobic (followed by 20 min musclebuilding stuff) and another one with Taeboo. We will see how it goes! Wish me luck!

Sanna

No worries, you posted in the right spot if you are looking for daily support!!! Welcome to MTM land!  From the looks of it, you really don’t have much to lose (according to the “suggested” weight for your height, you are right on target) But whether or not you “need to lose” weight, it is always a good idea to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.  Perhaps focusing on “health” rather than “the number” will help motivate you to make good choices in your diet.  Sugar really isn’t evil, just the over indulgence in it is.  It is a good idea that you treat yourself, and think of it as a lifestyle.  Glad you found your way here.  Good luck!

Hi and Welcome to MTM!

Like Julie says, sugar is not bad (well kind of, but it won’t kill you!).

Sounds like you know how to eat healthy, and you’ve come to right place for support in your goals.

Things that work for me

1)Log my food - it helps me know were I went wrong, and to average out my weekly intake
2)Don’t deprive myself - if I want the piece of cake or glass of wine, I just keep my overall calorie intake where it needs to be by having smaller portions of other things
3)Staying active - for me, that’s everyday, doing something to keep the body metabolism up. Share it (this thread is a great place to do it) so you share your goals and be accountable

Most of all, knowing that eating healthy and being fit is not temporary, but a lifestyle.

Sounds like you know how to reach your goala, and you have the support with this great community at MTM

Welcome!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Hi you guys,

Wow, thank you for checking in on me! My internet was down a few days so I haven’t been able to post! But excercising is going great! Into my second week. Without M2M I would have settled for 3 workouts, but now i love that I have to find time to cram the fourht in too!  I love the accountability of this place! I have read a little and have stated my goals more precisely:

I weigh myself on Saturday and in eight weeks it is my 33rd birthday, and I want to have reached my goal weight. Although the weight is not the issue, I know muscles weigh more than fat, my real goal is to be fit and to have lost my love handles around my waist. No pants sit well with that bun on my belly! (Yesterday someone asked if i am pregnant (i blame it on the fashion here in Europe that has a very loose waist. I didn’t take offense though, got two other comments that I look really great and in shape. (My main weightloss happened 3 years ago).

so just to let you know, I AM STILL IN and going strong! YEAH!

thank you for keeping me on track!

Way to go on the fourth workout....as Scott says, work out more days out of the week than less!

Keep us up to date on your progress…

You’ll be fit for your 33rd!

You’re doing very well.  You’ll be surprised how fast 100 days go by and you’ll be eager to keep going.  Don’t stop, you’re doing great.

Did Tae Bo with our live in student this morning. The kids, 3 and 5, crawled up in the sofa to watch us sweat…

Congratulations on keeping up with your workouts.  Soon you will earn the right to treats (in moderation of course).

Hello my friends! Boy did Valentines throw me off! I am fourth week in, and first three weeks I had a perfect track of 4 workouts and 1 serving of sweets. Well, along came last week, and I totally gave in to SUGAR! I did 3 workouts, and had a total of 15 servings of sweets!!! In 3 days time. Which resulted in a gain of 2 pounds (had lost 4 in total). How sad! This week I have also sneaked in quite a few chocolates (perhaps a total of 4 servings) but at least I just finished my second workout for the week, and I am confident I will do four this week. But I have to get that sweet tooth under control!

As I did crunches after my cardio this evening I was so excited to notice how well the muscles in the stomach responded. It is such a different feeling than 4 weeks ago. That is really exciting! Makes you want to do more! Now I will go to put the kids to bed ,and then I can perhaps do some more resistance work as I watch my favorite show “You are what yo ueat”

Thanks for chekcing in on me!

Sanna

Hello~

I am still going strong! I listened to a testimonial on Scott’s show, about a guy running a marathon, and i was so inspired so i signed up for a halfmarathon in the fall. It is the only official marathon in Lithuania. Our inlaws live in the capital, so we will just plan a trip to them for that September weekend. so now i have seven months to train.

i started last year with a spring and fall cleansing fast, and I just began the spring one yesterday. It will be a 8 day fast with juices no to make the detox to severe and to continue to feed my brain their glucose.

Anyone know how to exercise wisely during a fast?

I know fasting is a controversial issue, but i love the effect it has on me, both fysically and mentally. For a great article on fasting see http://www.healthy.net/scr/article.asp?ID=1996
It is by Dr. Elson Haas and it is exerpted from his book Staying Healthy with Nutrition:
