I saw today on Rachel Ray Show these two ladies plugging their “Diet book” called Belly Fat Diet. I can’t help but roll my eyes and do that disgruntled pig grunt sound (yes, I grunt) just hearing that ANOTHER diet book is out there. Your thoughts on this specific book????
My thoughts on diet books in general? So long as they have good, quality nutrition, mostly how I look at it is that different people have different perspectives and writing styles, and individuals may need to try a few different perspectives before it “clicks” for them (i.e. you know how Scott says sometimes that he’s not for everyone).
Otherwise, yeah. It’s a bit of a flooded market, with too many people looking for an easy way out and that “magic bullet” that will give them their goals without work, so I have definitely been known to give that “grunt” too.
I think that’s the one that promotes the MUFA’s. And in that case, I love anything that advocates daily chocolate intake But as far as anything else its just your typical diet book from what I hear.
Speaking of Food and “diet” related books, I got the “You Are What You Eat” book. It’s all the info Dr. McKeith has on her show in a nut shell, food lists, plus some recipes (which was what I was most interested in).

Woohoo! How is it? I’ve been looking at it for awhile now although I have yet to purchase it, and it’s been a catalyst behind me making some major overhauls to my diet.
Rachael Ray and a diet book? Must be using her name to sell the book. OMG, the weight she has gained in a year and
if you watch her show, very little in lowfat or low calorie cooking.
Diet books have a way of driving me crazyyyyyyyyy, keeping things simple. My Doctor told me, if a product can sit on a grocery store shelf forever, just think what its doing to our tummies!?! He made a great point.

Didn’t she drop some weight when she transitioned to talkshow-land from Food Network? Does that mean she gained it all back? I never watch.
I like a lot of her recipes, but yeah, she “Claims” they are healthy but she never measures anything, and the cheese overload...wow. That is why I just modify them.

Its very informative and it has some of the juice recipes (and others) from the show. I really like the information on the physical signs of nutrient deficiencies. It would be hard to follow her plan to the letter though. But I think unless you’re like someone on the show needing drastic change, you could just adapt some things and more importantly learn about different food and the signs of a poor diet. Its more of a nutrition book than a diet book.
