Hello Canadians!

Greetings from Brockville, ON, “City of the 1000 Islands”.

Julie!  I was so pleased that you mentioned the 1000 Islands Parkway as a great Canadian spot for exercise.  For those of you who don’t know, the parkway runs from Gananoque, ON almost all the way to Brockville, ON.  (If anyone would like to do the math, the route is 30 min. by car at 80 km/h.  So base you biking or hiking speed on that if you’d like to plan a journey.)

My favourite part of the trip down the parkway is that you can stop for a break at the beaches at Brown’s Bay and the national park, and you can actually see the islands from the road!

Hi there, Jenna!  It’s always great to meet up with other Canuks.

Absolutely, the 1000 Islands are so beautiful!  (Well, maybe not at this time of year, when they’re also so cold… but you get the idea!)

Cheers,
Julie

Are you living in Canada now, or are you in France?

Hi Catherine, welcome to MTM-land!  It’s always great to see more Canuks around.

We’ve got some Torontonians floating around the forum.  Jeff is quite active, and I’m sure you’ll see his posts if you stick around.

Otherwise… what is *up* with the crazy weather this winter, eh?

Cheers,
Julie

I am Canadian. I presently reside in Calgary, but back home on the ranch, we have 600 head of cattle and 350 head of buffalo. As you might imagine, I eat red meat. Born and raised in Hardisty, you may remember it from “The Week the Women Went” this winter on CBC. I have been on all three coasts, and every province and teritory in between, but my heart will always lie in Alberta. From the deck of my house, I can see the actual office building that I work in downtown Calgary. Turn to the left and you can see the rockies. From my doorstep to Kananaskis Village is just over an hour drive, so is Banff. That includes a stop for gas and Timmies.

Hi Derek,

That’s awesome.  I’d love to be an hour away from the Rockies!

Cheers,
Julie

Hello smile

I am in Sardis, BC at the foothills of the rockies. I grew up just outside of Winnipeg, MB though. I am SOO ready for the summer, the sun, and all the outdoor activities that come with it!! Also, I am grateful to have Scott’s message coming through on my runs. I am a bit of a social person, and it totally helps to feel like someone is there chatting to me while i am out there hitting the trails.

Oh...and i was reading the posts about perogies and Alberta steak (YUM) I will bring the Salmon wink And some BC fresh fruit....

Glad to be here!!

Welcome to both our new Canuks!  We’re so happy to have you, and to see our numbers growing.  Just wait: one day we’re gonna take over the world!  (But, shhh.... we don’t want anyone to know about it yet, eh?)

Cheers,
Julie

*Big waves back*

Where abouts in Wpg are you from? I actually was from East St. Paul...on Henderson Hwy, half way to Lockport (where the waterslides are)

I want to go back sometime soon. I have a ton of family there…

Hi everyone,

I leave in the Ottawa area (National Capital).  I am originally from Quebec City, but I prefer the Ottawa area.  It is nice to see so many Canadians on this site.

The weather here is getting a lot better!

A lot of rain, but the green grass is growing and it’s AMAZING to see again!
