Hello everyone!  I am thrilled to have found this MTM Community!  The insights and support shared here are exactly what I have needed to begin a change in my lifestyle.  Of course, I have thought about it so many days...months..years.  Now is my time to act.  I have been a member of a gym for about two years and do go there to workout, ahem...sometimes.  I am attacking my problems of inconsistency and procrastination with the 100 Day Challenge.  My goal is to lose 192 lbs., gain the support needed to do so, and find the life I have always dreamed of living.  It seems like such a huge endeavor but I am determined.

Today is Day 1 of the rest of my life!

Welcome Bloosom…

I found, for me, the best way to get things accomplished is to do a couple of things

1) Schedule your workouts
2) Have a calorie goal - and track it (I use http://www.fitday.com)
3) Have specific weight (realisitic) mini goals (8 lbs by the end of the month etc)
4) Get a workout buddy
5) Put a goal in front of you....a walk-a-thon for a good cause, a race or something to work towards

There are sooooo many good people here, ready to help....

Your part will be to be consistent in letting everyone know (especially yourself) how you are doing with each goal you set!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Hi Blossom

Welcome to the forum!  I am in the North Bay, over in Napa.  I joined a year ago today and MTM and the people on the forum are just wonderful and have helped me to keep moving for the year.

Have a great Day 1!

Welcome, Blossom! I have the inconsistency and procrastination thing down to a science. I can slack off and screw myself up so completely I don’t know which way is up. That’s what I love about this place, it keeps me pointed in the right direction. Welcome to the yellow brick road!

Wow!  I am encouraged!  Thanks to you all for your replies--and enthusiasm.  I am working on my goals.  In fact, I picked up a brochure for the Avon Breast Cancer walk-a-thon today...for the first time ever.  Oh my how times have changed.  More later.  Thanks again.

Peace

Hey, Blossom!  Great to hear from a fellow east-bayer.  I’m out of Berkeley myself.  The bay area is paradise for walkers, runners and just about any other outdoor enthusiast.  If you’re near Tilden park in the East Bay and you haven’t already explored, you can spend hours hiking beautifully wooded areas.  I’d highly recommend signing up for that Avon breast Cancer walk-a-thon immediately if you haven’t already!  I’ve fully committed myself to my first marathon, the San Francisco Marathon in Aug of this year, and this committment is driving me to stay on track with getting out there and getting in great shape.  Another thing that really helps is if you can join a team of folks who train together.

Good luck with everything. smile
