Sounds like a really snazzy gym Chad!

It’s not snazzy at all.  It’s the polar opposite of snazzy.
It’s a big warehouse type building packed with old equipment...thats why it was so weird that they bought new stuff.
But I guess the new equipment was expensive cuz they shut the heat off now on certain days.
How’s that for snazzy??

Where I live I have only a few choices, the run down Bally’s with horrible staff or the super small YMCA that has like 3 machines.  There are NO 24 Hour Fitness, Lifetime Fitness, or whatever here.  And then they wonder why our county is one of the fattest places in the US. Hmmmm.  Do you go to a national chain gym?

Chad,

Your gym sounds kind of like one here in Houston called Hank’s.  It’s where the really hardcore weightlifting types hang out.  It’s in kind of a warehouse building on a little side street in a not-so-nice part of town, and it’s really kind of grungy looking.  But it’s got great equipment.

The one and only time I ever went there was when I was working with a personal trainer years ago.  Our regular gym was closed for a week so we went to Hanks.

I’ve never seen so many steroid-fueled people in my life!  Even the women.  At least I think they were women.  But women aren’t supposed to have voices that deep.  smirk

Sorry you were/are sick, Chad. Your description of your gym makes me very grateful for where I go. It doesn’t have classes but everything else is great.

My gym isn’t the worse in the world.  I really do like it there.  It’s just there were a couple of days where they didn’t want to pay to heat it.
We’ve had heat all this week.
Judy...it sounds like the gym you’re speaking of sounds just like mine.

My account is still acting up.  I was able to post this but all the other posts I’ve tried to make to my own thread today has erred out.
Ugh.

I just lost a pretty long post. I should have copied it before I submitted.

I took a rest day Thursday.
I had a bad gym experience the previous night so I guess I wasn’t feeling like going back the next day.
We have a big table where you throw your keys while you work out - which probably isn’t the best idea....but you know.
Well, someone grabbed my keys instead of their own and left.  I kept waiting till they came back and after a couple of hours I gave up.  I caught a ride back to my house where I had to break in to get my spare keys and then went back to the gym to pick up my car.
The guy that took my keys didn’t realize it till almost Midnight and he called the gym to let them know.

I’ll be back at it this afternoon though.

Ugh, what a bummer. I can’t believe he didn’t know until midnight? You’d think he’d need his keys to get home way before that. Hope today is better, and hang on to your keys.

thanks for the input Chad!

Yeah, I will probably error on the side of replacing the shoes TOO early......I would rather pay for better shoes and not wear them OUT than have injuries.....

this week has been about 20 miles (going to do just a few miles tomorrow after my ride).......300 miles is a lot of miles to put on a running shoe…

let’s say you do 20 miles a week ( 3 miles 6 days a week + one day being 5 miles) you would ‘wear out’ a pair of shoes in 3-4 months......(300-400 miles)
If you run 15 miles a week, (60 miles a month) it would take 5-6 months to wear out the shoes....

I think it depends on a lot of things...your weight, your style of running, if you use the shoes for ‘casual’ wear, as well as working out, and how you run/walk in the particular shoes.....

My ‘A’ race is in 3 months...I’m going to buy another pair the beginning of Feb., so that by March 31 (the date of the Ford Half Ironman in Oceanside), I will have gotten used to them, but not worn them out.......

thanks for your input!
