And gladly I don’t have to chase my dog a lot. She’s pretty docile. But for the times when she knows I don’t want her to get out of my sight when we’re outside, she goes completely limp and lays on her back. She KNOWS someone’s going to hurt their back picking her up(she may be 24lbs but when they go completely limp it feels like 100!), I think it’s just to spite me......
Well, today was a trying day. I woke up with my old back/hip injury flaring up and causing pain. So I decided to take a day off and recover. My dad who lives 3 and a half hours away went to the emergency room. He’s been sick with some weird infect, maybe a blood infection again, he’s diabetic. So stressful, so emotional, I felt so helpless, then I ended up with a horrible migraine. My migraine medicine didn’t help, so I did some meditation and went to bed. I will run tomorrow.
25:03 min Interval Run (5 min warm up; 90 sec/90 sec, 3 min/3min-x2, 2min cool down)
12 min Ab workout
20 min Yin Yoga
8:30 min Zazen Meditation
Well, it was a beautiful 60 degrees F today when I went to run, but very, very windy. I ran outside and was fighting the wind every step of the way! After yesterday, I have a new sense of urgency to shape up and eat healthier. I think I’ll start by cutting back on refined and processed sugar. It will surely be a challenge but I need to do it. Instead of reaching for my number 1 comfort food, soda, last night, I instead got a class of water and I Viactive Calcium Chew. Hey, it was chocolate and good for me too! And instead of reaching for a soda this morning I continue with some water and then some Gatorade during exercise. I know not the best but still better than soda.
I think you are doing great - I hope your dad gets better soon. You have lots of reasons to stay with the diet and exercise program. I’m sure you will be successful.
Yes, soda is worse than crack, but since Saturday night I’ve only had a couple sips of strawberry soda. And I normally have about two cans a day or more. Craziness. It also helps not having my favorite, Pepsi, in the house and not being a school hearing the cal of the vending machine.
My dad got home from the hospital yesterday with prescriptions for stronger antibiotics and pain killers. Which if the stupid doctor had listened to him in the first place he wouldn’t have had to make a trip the emergency room and spend extra money on RX. It wasn’t his regular doctor, some quack. I would call the state medical board or whatever and complain. Anyway, he’s taking at least today and tomorrow off of school to get some rest and get to feeling better. I hope I hear something from him today and that he’s feeling better. I defintly agree that he should move on and move south to warmer weather. I think it would be good for him, a change of environment, a healthier environment. I just worry about him being alone, it kinda depresses him all his kid growing up and everything.
Speaking of, I kinda tore into my sister about being irresponsible and being out with her boyfriend all the time, especially when our dad is sick. She needed it, but I just hope I wasn’t too harsh, I kinda upset her. I should send her an email…
So anyway, I was planning on beating the rain and going for a run today, but it rained hard before I even got out of bed. So the roads are kinda slick and that’s where I run. I kinda have this fear of running on wet roads after the rain because that’s how I hurt my back/hip in high school. Lots of pain will do that to ya. So I might see if it dries up by this afternoon and see if the supposed storms hold off long enough for me to run. it’s beautiful weather and I’d like to take advantage of it. Otherwise I might call Bree and see if I can’t borrow her treadmill this afternoon. Or maybe I’ll use the indoor bike during the big game so I’m not so bored.
I do need to stretch out my calfs though, they are really tight after that ballet toning and running yesterday. My right one kinda cramped up on me yesterday a little. It did that when I did step aerobics last winter/spring. Maybe I’ll have a Banana/Macadamia Nut/Chocolate Soy Milk Smoothie later. Yum!!!
Oh! Oh! Oh! I can eat bananas in moderation with out getting a migraine thanks to my new migraine medicine!!!
Jenn, I hope your Dad gets better soon. That’s got to be tough for you to be so far away with him so ill. Hope you get in your workout. Good news about the bananas. Luv them! Have a great rest of the day.

Well, I got my run in between rains and just at the right time in the afternoon when the street had dried and it was a beautiful and windy 70 degrees out. That wind is tough to fight. Looks like rain soon. Weights, meditation, and Tai Chi make today’s workout complete. Can’t wait to start swimming next week. I think I’ll go try on my swim suit.
Yeah, she just turned 18 right after Christmas and needed a good jolt of reality and a reminder that she’s an adult now.Haven’t heard from my dad. If I don’t hear anything by tonight I’ll call.

Well, I stayed in today. We’re under a wind advisory and there are severe storms headed this way. So I hit the indoor bike, did my ab work out, and some yoga to keep my hip and back feeling good. Bad weather won’t keep me from getting my workout in!
Thanks for the tornado warning! That came up fast, freaky. Come on over anytime for the treadmill! If you want to use it while I’m at work, go ahead, you have a key, right?

Yeah, crazy weather. All this warm/cold.warm.cold has my head spinning. No, I don’t have a key unless, there’s one hanging up in the kitchen here, but I don’t know which one is which. I’ll ask Jeremy tonight. I was out running errands this morning so I swung by the gym. If I can figure out which key is which, I’ll run over at your place tomorrow since there’s a chance for isolated storms.
Well, my dad is feeling better he said. His ankles are better, but his knees still hurt. He’s running out of pain meds, but he took another day off to rest. That’s good. He said he was going to keep my sister home from school today, she’s got a cold again, some respirtory thing. If you ask me its too much video game playing and not enough moving around exercising the lymphatic system. I don’t get nearly as sick as often (minus allergies) when I work out regularly.
I think I’ll do my nails this afternoon and enjoy my last few afternoons off before classes start next week with me getting up at 5am and all. Attempt to play some guitar and just chill. I’ve already got my meals planned out for next week. I’ll be getting up early to workout and take advantage of free use of the gym and pool. They’re not really free, they’re included in my tuition fees. Won’t be able to pick my books and supplies up until Monday, they’re kinda waiting til the last minute. I preordered them.
6 lbs equals a gallon! Holly molly! I have to lose like 5 or 6 gallons. That seems like so much “stuff”! Well, that explains why I can’t get my favorite jeans over my booty. I’ve got a gallon on each cheek! See you on Nike!!
Oh by the way, could you indulge us in that banana/macadamia nut/soy smoothie recipe!? That sounds like heaven in a cup. And you are right about soda, I weaned myself off the stuff completely 6 weeks ago and I have weak moments where I fantasize about bathing in Pepsi...kinky but true. And that is gross, I was looking at 10 pound loss and that is like losing 8 medium cantalope mellons off your body. Hmmm.
Ok, I’ll post the recipe with all the other food threads. A bath of Pepsi sounds so tempting, or at least a can (my throat’s a bit sore). But I’ll be good. We’ll me evening hasn’t turned out quite the way I planned. I couldn’t get the sound to work with the DVD player and by the time I figured out the cable was loose I had spent half an hour trying. Well that wore me out and I thought it was too late to watch a 3 hour movie, if I want to get up early for a swim and run some errands at school. Painted my nails and they look horrible. This is why I normally don’t do things like this.
