Tim, I over used the elliptical and broke the thing. Well, it was probably Hubby, he exceeded the weight limit, but we can’t seem to find one rated for him. So we bought a treadmill that was. The plan is to get one that used to be in a gym and was refurbished. I guess there’s a store in Memphis, but they’re not cheap. So soon, I’ll get to have twice as much fun!
That’s too bad, Bree… good luck in finding an appropriate elliptical machine!! Our elliptical has seen better days (there is a spider crack in one of the foot petals and it squeaks) but I think it has been taking across the entire country since we bought it two years ago!! Nope… no clothes hangin’ on that thing!!
Gotta love the MTM community… they actually purchase exercise equipment for exercising… not for a clothes hanger!!
"Moodier than a pregnant alligator"---I’d hate to run across one of those!!! Consumer Reports Magazine just rated a bunch of exercise equipment and it was a good read, so if you are interested in buying future equiptment, check that out. I am quite lustful over a particular elliptical machine.....
That’s cool that Consumer Reports is rating exercise equipment!!!
So, Julie… what is the highest rated brand name for home ellipticals under $2,000?
FYI… a friend of mine and I both bought the Vision Fitness elliptical… and now the place where we got it from doesn’t carry it anymore. I am guessing it doesn’t rate too highly (if it got tested at all).
Maybe I should “deck out” my elliptical… maybe put some pinstripes on it… maybe some chrome foot pedals… perhaps I could add some “MTM” decals!!
I will be checking out that article, thanks Julie! We actually looked at some in Sears today. Hubby wants to research it a bit more. He says its not good for the ego to have broken 2 already, not sure 3 would be a good thing.
The sleep over was a hit, felt more like a sucker punch to me, but that’s what being a parent is like sometimes. I did get most of the house back in order in a short amount of time, so the pain wasn’t as bad as I’d thought it would be.I can say I won’t be doing it for a while again, but it was fun.
Day 5 (1/5)
10 Burpees (HR was 78% from 31% insane)
Treadmill: 3.25 mile run, 1 mile walk
Longest run yet!
Day 6 (1/6)
REST DAY
Sort of. We shopped, I was insane enough to forget to change shoes after church. Hours of shopping in heels = hell. We all had Target gift cards, and looked around at Sears, plus groceries. Wish I’d worn my pedometer today, but there is nowhere on this dress to put it. Now, off to get a glass of wine and catch up on my all my friends.
At least an exercise in patience. People that like to park their cart (called buggies down here) in the middle of the aisle and stand next to. Ugh. Oh, well. Going there always makes me realize how lucky I am.
Oh, and at Target, I had the exact change! That never happens, and was so cool. Yes, little things make me very happy.
This is how I do them, I had a different link up a minute ago, but found the right one.
Crap, I’m moving north.
Got my calisthenics done so far today. Did them this morning, was going to run after work, but have to take Skeeter in for an appointment, and really don’t want to redo hair and make-up. So I’ll run when I get home. But it’s only a mile and a half today, so no biggie.
Oh, and I’m a new aunt! My nephew was born this morning in South Dakota! 8 pounds, ouch.
I swear my high school gym teacher made us do those as a warm up. She didn’t call them Burpees tho. I’ll have to try some when I’m alone and no one can see me. Thanks for the video link.
Thank you for the auntie congrats! I still haven’t seen a picture, but hear he’s cute. I’ll get to see him in 6 months when we go back up there for the 4th of July. Like Brad said, it’s flipping cold up there.
And Mouse already has the southern accent, and too much of the grammar. But its really cute to hear her say she “fixin’ to.” And she calls me mimi sometimes, found out that’s a local thing. Makes me feel much better, I’d thought she’d seen Drew Carey and was making a reference. I’m catching myself saying odd things too.
Day 7 (1/7)
abs
push-ups
shoulders
treadmill: 1.5 mile run, 1.5 mile walk
Day 8 (1/8)
Inhale yoga
treadmill: 2 mile run, 1 mile walk
The run today was interrupted. Jenn called to let me know there was a tornado on the way. Crap. Oh well, started running, Hubby called to tell me there’s a tornado coming (within seconds). Took it as a sign. Shut off the headphones, turned on the tv and weather radio (listened to the spotters), and finished the run. Not gonna let a little thing like 4 tornadoes touching down nearby stop me, sheesh, I was in the groove.
Schools actually held the kids until the warning was over, which was really awesome. I called to see if they were sending them home, and was relieved to find out they weren’t. They came home an hour late. Skeeter was starving, and Mouse was a little shook up (they’d lived through a tornado here 2 years ago). But all is better, and I thank God for protecting them.
Isn’t it fun to do the crap we hated, just to prove we can? I saw the video on Shawn’s thread and had to try them. I’m sure that’s some sort of mental disorder.
