Hi everyone - Happy New Year.  I’m back after a long break.  Fell and broke my 5th metatarsal on my right foot in early October while in Switzerland.  I wound up needing surgery and not being allowed to put any weight on the right foot for 6 weeks.  I got out of my cast 3 weeks ago and have been gradually getting back to walking with shoes.  I was really wobbly at first, but am regaining my balance and ability to walk and get around.  Gets better each day.  I have my last physical therapy session tomorrow and see the doctor in the afternoon.  Just started driving last week.

Needless to say, I’m anxious to regain my previous level of fitness.  Starting a new 100 Day Challenge seems like the way to go.  I’ll post here what I do to get moving each day and what I am doing to achieve my fitness goals in 2008.

Day 1 Tuesday
- Walking 30 minutes

Hey Priscilla!

It’s so good to see your smiling face in the forum again!  And it’s great to hear your foot has been healing up nicely!  grin

Day 2 Wednesday
- Physical Therapy - 5 minutes recumbent bike, 5 minutes elliptical, strengthening exercises legs and feet.  The therapist recommends two more weeks of PT and encouraged me to get started again slowly at the gym.

Day 3 Thursday - Rest day

Day 4 Friday - Curves 30 minutes

My sister gave me a 30 day free membership in Curves, so I thought I’d give it a try to help me get back up to speed with my workouts.

Ouch!!! I’m glad your foot is healing up well.  Take it easy at first, to make sure you don’t hurt it again.

I had been wondering about you, Priscilla, and had forgotten about your foot. So I’m very glad both that you’re back and that your foot is healing.

How’s the rest of your life?

Welcome Back

I know what it’s like to break your foot - I had something similar two years ago.  It was my right foot and I couldn’t walk and couldn’t drive.  What a major pain in the (ahem.....) .....  foot.  red face

How is everything else going in your life?

Day 6 Sunday - Thirty five minute walk after dinner.  Still wearing my boot for about half of the day. My foot gets tired walking around the house all day.

Welcome back, Priscilla! Sorry to hear about the foot and all the crap you went through with that. But I’m thrilled you’re better and back with us! And you are off to a great start! Way to go!

Thanks everyone for welcoming me back.  I think I’ll be completely back up to speed within a couple weeks, but they do encourage me to be patient and listen to how I feel.

Day 7 - Monday Curves 30 minutes + stretching.

Update:  Just found out that the FREE Yoga offered at our worksite starts up tomorrow.  My PT says I can do it, but need to wear the boot for a couple weeks while doing it to support the ankle.  Plan to talk to the teacher tomorrow and get going on Yoga again.  Yea!!! Looking forward to it.

Another Update:  Walked 35 minutes after dinner.

How did you like Curves????

Curves was fun.  Not as strenuous as the workout I was used to at my gym, but a good way to start getting back up to speed.
