Hey, wanna see how many steps all that last minute shopping is giving you, and get kudos for it? I’m starting this challenge on Monday, December 17th. It will last one week, so you’ll be done by Christmas Eve!
All you have to do is get a pedometer (they sell some for just a couple bucks at Wal-Mart, Walgreens and the like), put it on, and record your steps for the day.
What if you don’t get 10,000? Post anyway, and see if you can get closer the next day! This is meant to be fun and find out how much those shopping trips are helping your health, if not your checkbook.
I ended up wearing my pedometer for only a couple hours yesterday and logged 3017 steps. Not bad for a couple hours, imagine what I could have logged for the whole day.I put on my pedometer this morning so we’ll have a full accounting for today.
You’re doing great! I’m cheering for you as I lurk on the thread.
I have a pedometer, but I don’t use it very much. I find it just gets in the way a lot of times, and certain things (like driving or taking the subway) add “phantom” steps that I didn’t walk. I tried tracking for a while a few years back, and found I couldn’t do it consistently. Instead, I just make sure I include some walking every day, and don’t worry too much about the exact number.
Thanks M and Julie! When I started to lose weight, I wore a pedometer constantly. It really helped keep me moving.
Forgot to post yesterday’s total. It was 11,777. Thought that was really cool. I’m almost there today, been more of a bum, but will post the total later.
Great job, Bree! I’m sure you’ll keep moving, whether or not you use a pedometer.
Today I get to go do some last-minute shopping with a friend of mine (for his presents; I only need one for New Year’s), so that’ll get me moving a bit too.
Thank you, Julie! Yesterday I had 10,075. Had to walk 2 miles on the treadmill, but I got them in. My step challenge is over, and what I found was that I wasn’t moving a whole lot except for my workouts. Knowing I needed more steps kept me from sitting on my tuckus so much. And miraculously, my house got cleaner. Hmmm…
