Hi everyone, my name’s Joanna and i’m from Australia. I just found motivation to move on iTunes and it looks like a great resource. About 2 months ago i went to the doctor where i was informed me i had a BMI of 30 (15 kg over maximum healthy weight, not sure what that is in pounds) Not good! It is a bit of a learning curve. I’d never been to a gym before and none of the clothes i had that were remotely suitable for exercise fit! So far i’ve managed 3 gym sessions a week for most of the last 6 weeks . We’re just starting summer here so the heat is proving making it a bit harder. Eating right is proving very challenging. I’m looking forward to hopefully being able to buy clothes that fit easier without being confined to the plus sizes ranges

Welcome, Joanna! I love love love your avatar!!! Gave me a great smile first thing this morning.

Awesome job on the gym so far! What’s your gym routine? (I always enjoy hearing about what people do.)

The eating is the hard part for me, too. It’ll come, just keep on moving and be more gooder than badder (some crazy guy said that once, I think LOL ). Once the exercise is a habit, then focus on the eating too.

Oh, the conversion is 33 pounds.

Are you starting a 100 days thread?

Thanks for the welcome!!

I do a circuit based program. Starts with some exercise bike then alternates between cardio and different types of weights and finishes with some stretches. Its roughly a half hour program. I’ve been finding having a set circuit program helps cause i have a goal to aim for (just half a circuit more ....ect) and i don’t have to think quite as much about what to do next.

I haven’t got to the 100 days threads yet but probably will

A little bit off most measurements but not a great deal of weight lost so far. I’m thinking as i was pretty unfit previously theres probably muscle gain and my body getting used to exercise factored into that

Hi Joanna,

Welcome to MTMLand!  Give yourself a big pat on the back for starting to move!

I wouldn’t worry too much about what the scale says.  Just keep moving and it will catch up with you eventually.  Consistency is the key.  Just keep moving bit by bit in the direction you want to go and you’ll get there before you know it.

I’m glad you’re here!

Hey Joanna
I’m an Aussie too!!  itunes got me here.  I need to get on board this group.  My BMI’s not the problem, yet, but I’m stressed and passive, if I give up now it will be.  My brother who’s intellectually disabled has cancer, he lives with me and the journey ahead is uncertain.  I’m numb and withdrawn, down but not out.  I was exercising before all this but have totally lost confidence.  I have a treadmill and weights at home.  I just want to be told to get off my butt and move when I can.  If I can tie myself to a mast for the next 100 days and get my brother through surgery and back home and stay fit, I’ll guarantee to support you!!
Calm confidence is what we both need!!
Lets Go!

Wow thats huge, congrats on being committed to exercise in the midst of all that! Don’t be too worried if you can’t do everything you’d like to, every little bit will help.

When i found myself checking for new podcasts more than once a day i decided maybe it was time to get the premium membership so this morning i did! I figure if i buy junk food a few less times a month i’ll be healthier and cover the cost.
