I got a nice little note today from Julie (zookie) that has finally got me to jump back into my own little section of the forum:

Your latest thread has me curious, I’d love to know what your workout includes!!!  Have you tailored what your father tells you to do to your liking and made your “workout your own”?  I know you are a behind the scenes type of gal, but I know folks on here that would love it if you shared what works for you!!!

Julie

I really do miss having the accountability of the forum, but I just can’t keep up with another 100 days thread, so I’m hoping to keep this new journal alive for a good time to come.

Julie…
Oddly enough, I don’t get TOO much coaching from my Dad as to the specifics of my workouts, but I do go to him when I need to change things up. (Hah… I’d probably do a lot better if I DID listen to his specifics, though!)

Lately, my thing is that I like to make sure I’m having fun while I’m working out. I’ve found a bunch of ways to do my LSB without ever going to the gym. Most of that includes some sportsy games like tennis or basketball in my apartment complex, or doing my Yoga Booty Ballet dvds (I’m still hooked!) I just make sure to keep my heart rate pumping and keep my feet moving, and I end up getting a pretty great workout.

On top of that, I’ve been very much a stickler on doing my weight training - “The Firm” DVDs. So far, I’m just doing weights every other day, but it makes all the differnence in how I feel throughout my days, and how I perform in my “fun” workouts.

This week I’m starting to do some AM/PM workouts, and I’m working on my diet again. I haven’t been eating ‘bad’ food; I’m just not paying attention to the calories and portions as much as I should. But not for long!

Besides, I’ve been watching little bits of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” and I’m getting excited about fitting into an itty bitty wedding dress soon - but I’ve just got to get to that itty bitty part first! smile

Welcome to the journal thread!  I think it’s a natural progression as exercise becomes embedded in our lives, we don’t think of it as something special to record in a daily journal.  It’s just something we do.  There is so much more to health, fitness and life and this forum is perfect for that.

When you get to that itty bitty wedding dress, make sure you post pictures.  wink

Hey I am really glad to see that my gentle prodding worked! LOL.  I think it is great that you found yourself here, with this added support combined with your “kick it up a notch” workouts, the itty bitty dress will be yours in no time!!! Helllllooo Buff Bride!  I also like how you incorporate “Fun” activites instead of just limiting youself to the gym.  Looks like “Fun” is what drives your workouts, that is awesome!!!!!  Good luck on the double ups, I too have been doing that and taking advantage of a food diary to keep me on track calorie wise.  Looking forward to your progress!!! And yes, like Paula said, we expect to be indulged with photos.

Hey Carlyn! Looks like you’re doing everything right, way to go! Have you picked a style of wedding dress yet? I’m trying to get a visual.

Ahhh… I think I’ll jump in here for just a moment.

My little girl “kicks butt” during her workouts!  And it’s pretty funny when I call her and she either totally ignore my call or quickly picks up and says, “whaaaaat… leave me alone I’m working out”.  OK… I just call back!

I’m glad Carlyn has come out of hiding and is sharing with you guys - and I know she could really use your support.

Heck - we’ve got a wedding to plan so I’m thinking we would use a few big sister and aunt types to help us… ya’ll up for it?

Pictures pictures pictures - Yes, there will be many to share in the near future, I’m sure!

Luckily for me (and for my itty bitty wedding dress goal), the wedding is looking to be in May of 2009 - the exact date yet to be decided.

Bree - I’ve been sucked into watching “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC… so I’m getting my first taste of dress hunting and I’m getting excited!  I’m definitely thinking strapless, no lace, light beading (maybe) and a sleek, flowing bottom to hide my bare feet (I’ll be digging my little piggies into the sand for a beach wedding) smile

As for the workouts - the past few days I’ve been lucky enough to squeeze in my AM workout, but unfortunately no PM workouts. I’ve been a busy busy girl preparing for a week-long trip to Iowa.

In fact, right now I’m typing on the forum in the back seat of my finance’s step-dad’s F-150 as we travel North on I-75 in Georgia. (Gotta love this Verizon wireless internet card - Thanks Dad) If you live anywhere between Florida and Iowa, I’ll be waving as I pass! (Bree - you can count on my ‘wave’ at about 7am as we hit Tennessee)

I’m glad I made sure to get my workouts in this week as I’m not sure what my schedule will be in Iowa. If all else fails, I’ve got my sneakers and some beautiful fall colors to explore - can’t wait!

Hey, cool Carlyn- I’m on the eastern side of South Dakota, if you make it that far you can wave this way too!

A beach wedding - how fun!  And I love your idea for your dress - so pretty!  The weather is going to be nice in Iowa this weekend; I hope you enjoy your trip!
