I’m going to hand out Halloween pencils. How about everyone else?

What would happen if you did a trick instead of giving them candy? Something tells me there would be a lot of sad ghosts walking the streets! No one really expects to get a trick, has anyone ever done tricks instead of candy?

Magicians would be pretty good though, something tells me one would be satisfied.

I hate to say, I’ve been outvoted for the pencils. Hubby is convinced we’ll get egged if we hand out pencils instead of candy. I’m going to head out today and see what wonderful little trinkets I can find that may make kids not retaliate. Maybe I’ll do one pencil and one piece of candy. That way there will still be less candy in the house. Ugh.

Well it’s one thing to deprive the neighborhood kids of their candy but what about your own kids? They’re going to be bringing it into the house after their own trick-or-treating. I use to live for Halloween when I was a kid. You’re only a child once. Give them candy or I’ll egg your house! (kidding smile )

For fun, give them sugar-free chocolate. They’ll only gorge on that stuff once. BwaaaaHAHAHAHAHAHA (hey, my evil laugh still works… sweet)

Too funny guys! And to be honest, I didn’t even think of the candy my kids will be getting. I’m so screwed. Maybe I should do 25 crunches before I eat any one piece of candy. It won’t be long before my tummy hurts from crunches instead of candy. It should be interesting.

I plan to go out with my daughter and her friends, and since they’re a little older, we’ll be covering large distances so lots of walking. That, combined with my early morning 60+ minutes of exercise/cardio that day, will enable me to earn and consume my 5% candy commission from my daughter without gaining an ounce smile

We have a kayak trick or treat - Paddling around the house boats in Sausalito in costume.  I’m going to dress Andromeda as a space ship with me as the alien.  I guess that what ever we gain in candy, we’ll burn paddling.  Chocolate is one of the main food groups for kayakers.  It will also be balanced with 2 pool sessions this week and a weekend paddling.  Did I hear someone say they workout so they can go out???

I’m taking my son trick or treating. We won’t have any candy in our house except for what he takes in.

And, he gets to keep what he takes in. What kind of monster steals candy from a three year old? wink

Too funny, Chris! And I love your avatar, way cute!!!

I did buy candy yesterday, 2 huge bags, and one small one, they are currently hiding in the closet with the rest of the Halloween day supplies. I haven’t even been tempted to open it, thank God. I did listen closely, twice, to what Scott said about kids liking different stuff than adults, so I let my kids pick out the candy we’ll be giving out. They never even glanced at the stuff I wanted! Not a bit of chocolate in any of it. Of course, that could be because if there’s candy about, it’s chocolate. But then again, they picked the same stuff I used to love as a kid. Hmmm…

And I have a Halloween party at preschool (lots of chasing kids around with that), church (more chasing kids down), and of course the trick or treating around the neighborhood. There isn’t candy allowed at preschool, even at these parties. It has to be bagged and sent home, but not actually handed to the kids until they are going out the door. And church will be a fairly candy-free zone as well. My main problem will be after it’s all over and we’re home, then the next day, and the one after that, and the one after that…

Here is a suggestion that one of my friends swears by.  Let kids eat a few pieces of candy each day for a few days after Halloween.  Then announce that the Switch Witch is coming one night.  If they put the remaining candy out by the door of their room before going to bed, the Switch Witch will come and take it away and leave a small present.  Candy is then removed from the house.  I am really thinking about trying it this year.

BTW, I am giving out Raisinettes and Mini Granola bars.

I have survived!! The candy the kids picked out to give away isn’t any good. They love it, but I really couldn’t care less about it. And they’ve quickly gobbled up the “Mom-tempting” candies because they know me.  red face  tongue wink

I am taking a little jaw breaker here and there, it’s just the right amount of sweet, and it lasts a long time.
