I get bored sometimes and need fresh tunes, maybe you do too.  If so, this is the thread for you.  Post your favorite playlist(s) if you’d like to share.

kiss  Ya’All Join In Now!

Most of my workout tunes are fast, for obvious reasons: Cardio.  The right music really keeps me going.  (I use my PocketPC phone with Windows Media Player instead of an iPod, iTunes is really a pain for those of who don’t use Apple and m4A DRM, but it’s all the same music. End of rant.)

Sometimes I add in Podrunner/DJSteveBoy tracks.  Check it out at http://www.djsteveboy.com/mixes.html. He usually gives the bpm of each mix so that helps.  You can get them as a podcast mp3 with any feedcatcher.  My trainer swears by DJ Tiesto.  You can also get free workout music downloads at http://www.fitpod.com/

Tonight my playlist was as follows:

Donna Summer - Upside Down
Everything But the Girl - Missing
Billy Ocean - When the Going Gets Tough the Tough Get Going
ACDC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Earth Wind & Fire - Got to Get You Into My Life
Justin Timberlake - Sexyback
Ciara - 1,2 Step
Prince - Rasberry Beret, Little Red Corvette
Rihanna - SOS
PDiddy/Nicole Scherzinger - Come to Me
Sylvester - Do You Wanna Funk
Chaka Khan - I Feel For You
Ami Stewart - Knock On Wood
Kelly Clarkson - Miss Independent
Space Remix- Rhythm of the Night

I’ve started a special folder in my iTunes just for workout playlists! I’ve organized them by BPM (Beats Per Minute), starting around 100, peaking in the 130’s or 140’s, and then cooling back down to around 100. Here’s my first two:

40 Minute Workout Playlist 1
1. Too Funky - George Michael - 98 BPM
2. Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ - Scissor Sisters - 108 BPM
3. Toop Toop Groove - Mashuptown.com - 126 BPM
4. Let’s Get Loud - Jennifer Lopez - 131 BPM
5. She Bop (Dance Mix) - Cyndi Lauper - 137 BPM
6. Dreamweaver (Mix) - Erin Hamilton - 135 BPM
7. Come Clean (Remix 2005) - Hilary Duff - 131 BPM
8. Mundian To Bach Ke - Panjabi MC - 128 BPM
9. Iko Iko - Cyndi Lauper - 100 BPM

40 Minute Workout Playlist 2
1. Magalenha - Sergio Mendes - 117 BPM
2. Rendez-Vous - Basement Jaxx - 126 BPM
3. Be My World - Milky - 131 BPM
4. Numa Numa Iei - O-Zone - 131 BPM
5. All The Small Things - Blink182 - 148 BPM
6. Forca (FM3 Remix) - Nelly Furtado - 134
7. I Will Always Love You (Remix) - Whitney Houston - 131 BPM
8. Dancing Queen (Millenium Mix) - Abbacadabra - 126 BPM
9. Manic Monday - The Bangles - 122 BPM
10. Holla Back Girl - Gwen Stefani - 111 BPM
11. Happy Feet (High Heels Mix) - Baz Luhrmann - 110 BPM

As you can see, remixes figurely highly in my playlists...that’s how even a ballad (I Will Always Love You) can become a heart-pumping cardio driver!

I agree, this is fun, and you guys are already giving me ideas for putting together my next playlist. Some of my favorites:

Everything But the Girl - Missing - One of the best remixes of a pop song I’ve ever known. The remix gave the song itself a new life on the charts.
Justin Timberlake - Sexyback - THE party song of 2006, it’s a good warmup song at 117 BPM
Pussycat Dolls - Buttonz - Irresistible, especially if you picture the video while you’re listening to it. Hot!
Haddaway - What is Love? - I can’t hear this song without thinking of the “Night at the Roxbury” sketch on SNL...you know, the three guys bobbing their heads to the music in their car, ha! Let the beat control your body.
sweet dreams - eurythmics - Such a good song, with that steady dramatic beat
Since You Been Gone: Kelly Clarkson - Kelly is defiant! When she lets loose on that chorus you can’t help but kick up your workout to match it.
Love Shack - The B-52’s - Just pure joy.

I’m all over the board with my music...sometimes I go with a certain ‘playlist’, sometimes I just ‘shuffle’

I’ve been going to spin class, and gotten a taste of music that I don’t normally listen too, but like.

Show (Hey Ho) Red Hot chili peppers
I Run for Life - Melissa Estherigde
Dani California - yes, Red Hot chili peppers again!
Bad Day, Daniel Powter
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
Better Now - Collective Soul (pumps me up)
Beautiful Day - U2
Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson
From San Diego to L.A.  - A Midday Atlantic....rather obscure...(my son’s old band)
Cool Down-
How to Save a Life - the Fray
Overkill - Colin Hay
Superman - Five for Fighting (acoustic version)
100 Years - Five for Fighting

It’s really great hearing all the music choices.....I’m amazed how much music energizes me when I work out.......

Thanks everyone...Keep ‘em comin!

I especially like the ones that keep up with my heartbeat......very cool.....thanks Jonathan!

I’m off to down load a few tunes!!!
I’d forgotten a few of them....."Sweet Dreams"- just great and YES a great beat!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.
