I’m starting to think along the lines of breaking up my entire day into 10-minute sequences… I think that would help me to be a most productive person! (10 minutes to wake up and get breakfast, 10 minutes to eat it, 10 minutes to shower, 10 minutes to get dressed, 10 minutes to wrestle with my daughter before 10 minutes of getting her clothes on her....
I did 10 minutes of folding laundry just now. I’ll tackle the whole week’s worth of laundry this way, because it’s the only way I get it done :D
That’s actually a really good idea Carrie. I’ve found myself thinking along the same lines.
Just 10 minutes to clear the desk. LOL, how long can it take to throw things out?
Goal: done
I think I’m making more of a mess getting the closet empty, yet am seeing progress
Wow, ya’all have been busy! Hubby decided we should get the bedroom (walk-in closet included) organized, and the living room closet. So my 10 minutes a day turned into 10 hours a day for both weekend days, but we got it done. And this included hauling things to Goodwill, and shopping for organizer stuff in a town an hour away.
Yesterday and today I was back on track for the 10 minutes a day. And guess what? My house is clean! And decorated for Halloween!
Welcome and way to go, Josie and Tracey! I love that I’m not alone on this issue, or the solution.
I got to say I’ve been so busy I haven’t even attempted to do my dusting. I’ve been lucky to just get my laundry washed, folded and put away. I don’t have to work tonight so I will do my 10 minutes of dusting!
I’ve been keeping up on my housework all this week! I’m no longer using the timer, but it doesn’t take much longer than 10 minutes to do the designated chore for the day. I usually listen to the daily boost while doing the chores. And I’m usually done about the same time, so it works out.
Well, it has been a little harder than I thought to get into the habit of 10 minutes of cleaning, but once I realized that I could still fit this in plus all the other things I was doing to avoid cleaning also, it has become a snap. My husband has noticed and really appreciates the little burst of cleaning I have been doing. Thank you Bree for setting this challenge up. It has really made a difference. I hope I can become as motivated as it sounds like most of you are cleaning basements, closets, and clutter. Oh well one step at time. I’ll check back as soon as I can to see how everyone is doing and to give you another update. Keep up the good work everyone. Tracey
Tracey, you are very welcome! My hubby also loves all the cleaning I’ve been doing, a little everyday has equaled a clean house here.
Friday, done! The trick will be continuing next week. We’ve been on a 2 week fall break, I should be starting my new job Wednesday. Same school I sub in, but I’ll be there daily as an aid for a disabled boy. When I’ve subbed a lot before, I’ve found it hard to keep my workouts up, much less housework. So, I’m going to keep on this challenge and make sure my house stays clean.
Got my 10 minutes in today and then some. Carrie your idea of breaking your day into 10 minutes bursts is great. I am still catching up on the laundry, but the rest of the house is much cleaner and now I can start on those dreaded dusting and clutter clearing projects.
During the week is a real challenge since I have scheduled so much into my day. However, just like last week, I am going to remember that it is such a small block of time I can fit it in.
Also I love to weight train, do yoga or pilates, but cardio not so much. As a matter of fact some days not at all, so I want to incorporate the same technique to get my cardio in.
Well I’ll see everyone here later this week to check in. Thanks for the encouragement. Tracey
Well I am giving up on my closet this week. My house is in need of that pick something up and put it away mode.
LOL, it’s dusted but cluttered. So that’s what I started yesterday.
The bedroom with my torn apart closet....I just closed the door to that room. For this week.
Josie
OMG! I did start my 10 minutes of picking up and putting away things in the main part of the house.
2 daily boosts later I was still picking things up.
Josie
I’ve been slowly drowning in a pile of laundry...I’m not out yet, but I’ll get there by the end of the week
Monday: 10 minutes turned into 25 min of folding
Tue: nuttin’
Wed: 10 min of dishes
As I have found out, by the time you think you’ll be done with the laundry, another batch of clothes need to be washed. I don’t think I will every be done.
I have hardly been home in the last couple weeks and no dusting has been done. Life is getting in the way. All my spare time is spent in the gym! The dust will still be there when I can get to it! Life is too short to worry about dust!
These threads caused lots of giggles, but I must say its a wonderful idea. 10 minutes of chores, hmmmmm. Im in the same boat as Emmi; I have DUST issues. My grandbabies likes dusting but it really does look like its been done by a 4 yr old and her sister...lol Might have to try this!
