Thursday

10 minutes-
GOAL MET

I am just about done folding (until the next laundry day) tongue wink

Now I have to go through my clothes, towels and linens and get rid of a lot of it.  There is so much now, there is no place to put it!  This may be why it stayed in the laundry room so long (and scattered all over the house) tongue rolleye

I’m failing miserably. I’ve missed everyday since I posted. But today I got it done, and made my girls also do the 10 minutes at the same time, so we got the mess around the house all picked up. Since we were doing it together, it was almost fun.  Almost.

Not quite as close to finishing as I thought-I have very few matching socks and bags of unmatched ones!

I did one intentional bout of 10 minutes on Friday but so far the challenge has been helping me just get started on doing ANYTHING (and of course I have to finish)… so I personally believe that counts as some success smile

My overall thing was to spend 10 minutes cleaning my basement.  Well I have listed 3 things that sit in my basement on Ebay this weekend for sale.  I sat down on Saturday and Sunday to do this, but I spent more than 10 minutes on each occasion to list these items.  I have more things that are not used that I will either sell on Ebay or give away.  By selling or giving these items away I will make more room in my basement.  Sorry I have sinned by not spending 10 minutes, but it is hard to do a listing on ebay in just 10 minutes.  Once I have sold a number of items than it is time to either pitch the remaining items or rebox them and put them up in the crawl space.  So, I have been doing my homework in this challenge.  My goal is to clean up my basement so I can use the exercise bike that is now in the corner collecting dust.  Also to build a multi-purpose workbench that can be used by my wife and I for either doing crafts, woodworking, or repairing computers.  Each night this week I will be posting more items on ebay to sell which will empty up my basement big time.  So, that is my update on this challenge.  I will have to post pictures of the mess and then some after shots.  This is my goal and it will happen.  Scooby means business on this one.

I’ve actually been keeping up with the challenge, though I’ve forgotten to set the timer. I have just found myself doing about 10 minutes of crappy housework a day. Yay!

Hey, did y’all here us mentioned on the show? How cool is that!

All right, I do have a goal.  I thought of it last night.  Given that I’m planning to switch fields to accounting but don’t, in fact, know anything about that field, my goal is to read accounting-related books for 10 minutes a day (at least).  Currently, I’m reading a book called How to Read a Financial Report (which is oddly quite good), and after that I’ll probably start in on Accounting for Canadians for Dummies.

Oct. 1—goal met

Cheers,
Julie

Since a lot of the people on this thread seem to be focusing on housework and paperwork type of items, I thought I’d mention the Flylady who believes we can accomplish anything in 15 minutes a day. http://www.flylady.net

Thanks for the link!  I’ve checked out Flylady, and some of her messages are actually pretty close to Scott’s.

Oct. 3—goal met
Oct. 4—goal not met, but I spent 2.5 hours at a workshop for “exploring careers in finance and accounting,” so we’ll just call it even

I’m going to join in this challenge also.  Seems like so many of us have household chores that need done.

Me, I have 2 closets that are overwhelming me. I think my son’s high school books are still in one of them. Time to
clean out. I think I can manage 10 minutes a day on this. That should help me as the thought of working for hours
is not making me do it.

I’ve had a $#@ busy week, but I managed to get in 10 minutes yesterday of dishes- then managed to finish them up later (I was SO close to being done at the end of 10 minutes- it’s crazy how I put them off because I think they’ll take me hours!)

Friday: done! I was amazed at how much I did get done in just 10 minutes. Of course, clearing the few shelves was the easy part. Today I tackle the piles I made on the bedroom floor for my mini challenge.

Hi,
Boy, I am glad I read the newsletter that had this thread in it.  Today I am going to commit to doing 10 minutes of housework a day.  This is something I really dislike and tend to put off.  Also walking away after 10 minutes makes it seem so much more doable (is that a word?).  I just love this community.  Although I do not post much I see alot of great suggestions and support here.  It is helping me to create the life I am looking for.  Well time to do some housework.  See you soon grin

Not so much a 10 minute goal, but my goal for the morning was to plan at least 2 lessons before noon.  Despite waking up late, I have succeeded with an hour to spare.  Yay!

Cheers,
Julie
