Hello everyone!  My name is Marie and I have just joined.  I downloaded a podcast show on my ipod and went walking today.  My walking has been “put off” for sometime now, as I have become -well - just lazy!  My daughter is getting married next year and I have decided now is the time to loose what I need to and to stay healthy.  I have been on many many diets and have always lost, but gain it back and more when I start eating “normal”.  So I decided to walk everyday and see what happens!  Reading all of your postings are interesting and are very motivational!  Hope I can be as motivated as all of you!  My goal is to lose 30 lbs. and drop from a size 12 to a size 8 or 10.  I am addicted to carbs and don’t know how to do without them, or how to put them in perspective!  Any advice?
Thanks, Marie

Hi Marie, welcome to the forum!

Congratulations on taking a step and repeating!

I found your 100 days thread first, so have posted there my thoughts about carbs.  Do you have any other goals?

Once again, welcome to the forum Marie!

Welcome Marie! I have no idea what Muscles (M) has said about carbs, but I like them. I make sure I have them in whole grain whole wheat form, and that there are at least 3 grams of fiber per serving. Other than that, I just watch the serving size and try to eat them early in the day when I’ll need the quick energy they provide.

Walking is a great way to lose weight, that’s how I lost most of mine. See you over on the 100 days!

Hey, Muscles, that’s about the only way to do it, huh.

Hi Marie!

Welcome to MTMLand!  grin

I see from M’s and Bree’s replies that you’ve already set up a 100 Days of Exercise thread.  Good!  Walking is how I have changed from a mostly-couch-potato to someone who now exercises most days of the week.  And some pounds have been coming off at the same time.  I’m sure you’ll find the same to be true for you!

I’m glad you’re here!

Hi Marie and welcome

M and Bree are right, stay away from the white stuff.  It may be hard at first, but if you replace the white stuff with whole grains, you will soon learn to satisfy your cravings with something healthier and you will find that the white stuff will taste as empty as it really is.

I’ll be looking for you on the 100 day challenge forum.
