I’m pooped. Everything took about 30 minutes longer than it was supposed to, so I didn’t get to exercise. But my body feels like I ran a marathon. It was the caroling that got me. 3 nursing homes, and 4 houses. I had 4 preteen girls ride with me and my youngest daughter (the older one wants nothing to do with her mom, even if her friends do). That was an experience. Then my little one had a massive case of shyness (normal for her), so I had to carry her everywhere. She weighs about 50 pounds with her coat on. One nursing home was huge and we had 5 people in it to visit, so a lot of walking and carrying.

But it was amazing. Most of the people cried when we sang to them. There were about 40 kids and 10 adults so we made quite a joyful noise. I saw a 12 year old girl brought to tears at the beauty of it. My feet may ache, my back may throb, my right arm (I can see it, so I know its still there) may never move again, but my heart is full, my soul is restored.

I’m not even going into the calories. They were all yummy.

By the way, I just listened to all the Burning 20 shows in the last week or so. Very motivational. I am very picky about which podcasts I will bother with (too much noise in the world already), and I can honestly say I get a boost from this guy. I also know he’s a member of mtm.

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Today was much more relaxed than yesterday. I was asked to help wrap the presents for all the kids at preschool, so I did. 2 hours on my knees, and no one… OK I’ll stop there.  zipper  I know I’m inappropriate. I like it that way. Anyway, right after that I went to the gym and did my walk/run for an hour. I made it through the routine with no problems and was disappointed when my hour walk was over. But I went into the weight room and lifted with my legs—it burned.

I ate a lot of little snacky type meals today due to lack of time for a real sit down meal. But my calories were only at 1395. I’m hungry now, but it’s bedtime so I’ll wait until morning.

Man, my knees hurt. But seeing the kids open the presents tomorrow will make it all worth it.

Tomorrow is going to be a non restful rest day. There is no time for exercise. I have a preschool Christmas party all morning, then my daughter is out of school until January. downer  She’s going to be sooo bored. We’re going out to eat, then a hair appointment, dressed up and makeup. Pack. Pick up the sitter, and we’re off to another fun-filled Christmas party in Mississippi! I’ll know more people there this time around, so I’m goin dancin. grin I promise to be a really bad dancer, but no one will notice because of the open bar.

Also, I’m not driving alone, so no more scary hitchhikers. That still creeps me out. And I’m still looking for mace. Everyone’s sold out. Apparently a hot stocking stuffer in the south. hmmm

I’m in such a goofy mood, “Lord, I apologize”—Larry the Cable Guy. We need a toothless smiley.

What a crazy weekend. I had a lot of fun at the second Christmas party. Danced a bit, laughed a lot, found out my tolerance for wine was greatly overestimated. I was in bed at 9:30. I only had 3 glasses, and they were small! I switched to only water after (I’d been drinking both), but couldn’t seem to sober up. So I stumbled back to my room and stayed there. Lesson learned.

It took all morning and most of the afternoon to get home and recover. Then I had to run to the store, and never got to the gym to finish week 6 of the couch to 5k. But the last day was the same as week 7, so I’m starting week 7 tomorrow. My youngest is out of school, so I won’t be hitting the gym until my hubby is home. That will be a challenge. I usually am done with everything when he gets home, so I’ll have to push myself. But it’ll be good practice for being on vacation.

Got my schedule messed up and was almost forced out of my workout today. I had Bunco tonight, but I thought it wasn’t until tomorrow. So I was all pumped to hit the gym when DH got home. Then a friend called and asked if I was going tonight and it hit me. shut eye  So, no run. But I had just enough time to get Tae Bo cardio in and still get ready. cheese

I have had 10 glasses of water and approximately 1800 calories. I know it’s over my limit, but it was worth it. And I have no parties for me tomorrow. So back to the good stuff. And a run. I really can’t wait for that. I wish my gym had daycare, or was open earlier. Oh, well, I’ll probably need the break from the kids by then.

I don’t get too upset unless I go over 2000. Like Scott says, it averages. I weighed myself this morning, and I’m still at 144. I figure maintaining during the holidays is very successful. I won’t have my scale with me next week, so I’ll be going by the way I feel. There are scales there, but not sure if there’ll be a difference in the way the weigh. (That sounds weird) So I probably won’t step on one.

I have a ton of energy this morning, so hopefully I can catch up on housework. I’ll be running after DH gets home. He’s very cool with me going and leaving him with both kids. I feel kinda bad, but we’ll see each other a lot next week.

I did it, I ran the full 25 minutes! I focused on my breathing and keeping my spine straight, and it went a lot easier than I thought it would. I felt great, and finished the hour grinning from ear to ear. Then I went into the weight room and did a full routine. I wasn’t sure if I could do it all that late in the evening, but I did.

I’ve had 11 glasses of water and 1210 calories. And a nap. smirk

No exercise today. We took the girls to Build A Bear workshop today and let them make their Christmas presents. It was a blast. My younger one is very shy, so she didn’t have as much fun with it, but my older daughter was in heaven. Since we’re not going to be home for Christmas, we figured this would make it special for them. We walked around the mall a bit and I carried the little one, so I don’t feel all bad. I also got a bunch of housework done today.

I had 8 glasses of water and 1550 calories. Not bad since we went out to eat. I had the guiltless salmon at Chili’s. Not as good as DH makes it, but it was tasty.

Weighed this morning and went down 2 pounds. I’m hoping it’s still missing tomorrow. If you find it, don’t return. cheese

those two are gone forever......I think they went to the other side of the planet, and someone else picked them up.....

Sounds like a fun time at the mall....enjoy these ages.....they DO go by fast.

We’ll be picking up our 24 YEAR OLD daughter and her boyfriend at the airport tonight......(that makes me feel a LITTLE old), but it will be good to see her and spend the weekend together......we’ll get out the old movies (so the boyfriend can see her as a little girl....should be fun.

Keep moving Bree.  Those two #’s are history! cool smile

Thanks, Tom. I’ve kissed the #s goodbye. That puts me at 142.

I did my run for 25 min., then finished the hour walking. And again with the full body weight routine. I feel great. I had sweat dripping off of me, but that’s what the gym is for, right? It strikes me as odd when people look at me weird for sweating so much. I do sweat more than most people, everyone in my family does. Even my girls and they are skinny.  But I keep checking my heart rate and it stays around 155 while running, and 120 when walking. The treadmills have the heart rate monitors. Love that.

I drank 13 glasses of water and am thirsty again, so I’m going for more. I’m sure it’s because of all the sweat. I’ve had 1090 calories. Doing my routine in the evening messes up my supper, so I end up eating a lot less. With the average, I’m right where I want to be.

Just got home from the very long drive back from the families’. 12 hours today. 6 yesterday. All but the last 6 were icy roads. So I’m glad to be home, and I’ve missed you guys. I really needed you last week. I did get in 3 workouts. 2 walks (short, one a mile, the other 2 miles), but it was cold, so they were cut short. And the last workout was sledding with my daughter. The snow pants and boots were way too big for her, so she couldn’t walk up the hill. Guess how she got back up? At least that meant I got to sled down with her. That was a blast.

I got an elliptical machine from my mom, and tried that out tonight. I could only do 10 minutes! I can now run for almost half an hour, walk forever, kick Billy’s butt in Tae Bo, but the elliptical had me feeling like I was made of jell-o. Now it’s a challenge. I will conquer the elliptical. I’m heading to the gym tomorrow for my run. I can’t wait.

Oh, diet? Ha. I don’t even know what I weigh. My pants still fit the same, so I’m assuming that’s a good sign. I bought new scale, it’s a Tanita. It’ll tell me my body fat and water percentages. I’m waiting until this weekend so my body can balance itself from all the travel and I can rehydrate. Didn’t drink enough water.

Happy New Year everyone. Hope you had a safe and wonderful Christmas.
