Hi Laura

Thanks for your concern over my 1100 calories.  Don’t worry though - I’m well aware that it’s too few!  Yesterday was unusual… Normally I’m up at 1500 calories and if I’m exercising like a maniac it’ll be 1800.  Right now though, I’m recovering from abdominal surgery (3 weeks ago!) and am not allowed to do ANYTHING except gentle walking, so I’m trying to eat about 1400 to avoid putting on weight while I’m inactive.

Gecko - I hope you heal up soon.  grin

Denise - Congratulations on avoiding the fridge!  I’m proud of you.  When are you coming to visit me?  The trails are clear of snow and it hasn’t been that rainy lately.

Denise!  Scooby!  How’s it going?  Are you still on track?

I bombed last night.  It happens every time I choose to have a drink (alcoholic).  Impaired judgement, guard goes down and, hey presto, empty fridge… <sigh>
Tonight I’ve a had a little seafood salad - got in late after meeting up with a friend in town.  That’s it for the night.  No more eating until breakfast!

Tonight I’m going from cheerleader and accountability buddy to fellow struggler.  I had a long, ugly day.  I’ll spare you the details, I’ll just say that my kitchen still has old-school linoleum and let you imagine the rest.  I have stuck to my plan all day, but now the munchies are hitting.  I’m hearing little lies in my head like “But you’ve had such a long day.  You deserve a treat,” and “Surely you’ve burned off some extra calories...” But I’m holding firm.  Too bad that old wax is too…

Maybe some herbal tea…

Laura,

Stay strong!  Don’t let the “old-school linoleum” wear you down.

Hi Laura!  Denise and I found that the best trick was to have a small protein and veggie snack late evening - maybe some tuna and salad?  If you are not hungry, you are less likely to be fighting yourself!

For me, the worst thing is boredom.  I don’t necessarily have to be hungry - if I’m bored, I’ll head for the fridge!

Gecko, are you truly hungry or just bored.  Take a drink of water and evaluate why you are thinking of heading to the fridge.  If you are truly hungry try to choose something that is good for you.  If not hungry maybe it is time to get some sleep or just choose an activity that will take your mind off of the fridge.  I help this gives you the needed support.  Let me know what happens, I am here to support you on this one.

Ok here is my update, sorry I have not posted in a while.  I have had a few times when I snacked in the evening, but overall I have been “more gooder than bader.” Last week my wife offered me a small piece of cheesecake that I had forgotten we had in the fridge.  It was very small, so the next day I worked out to make up for that one.  Another night last week I had a small piece of cake too!!  So the next day I worked out as well!!  Last night I had two scoops of Sherbert.  I think the thing I have most improved upon is my portion size.  In the past I would have had huge quanities of food, now I have small portitions of food.  That way when I do snack in the evening, it doesn’t blow my diet.  I am not too worried about my eatings the past few days because I usually worked out the next day to make up for it.  The other part is I made sure that my portion size was nice and small.  In addition I had selected one item only, in the past I would have eaten 5 or 6 different items.  Wow how times have changed.  The sherbert last nite I feel was a good choice because it is fairly good for me and tasted good too.  I didn’t want to post this at first, but decided I should be honest with myself and others.  One of the things I want to do better is if I do get the late nite munchies is to choose items that are healther for me, I could have done better than the cake and cheese cake.  But the decision was made and it is in the past, not going to worrry about that one to much.  So I feel good in that I am living up to being “more gooder than bader” and that makes me happy.

Gecko - hang in there!

Scooby - it’s all about the baby steps.  Smaller portions, then healthy snacks, then saying, “I think I want a snack but I would rather see that scale go down.” Keep working it!

Gecko,
Great job in avoiding tempation to visit the fridge and snack out!!!  I was hoping all would work out just fine for you.  Last night I was soo tired that I just crahed in bed at 10 p.m, normally I am never in bed that early.  I avoided the whole fridge thing since I was so tired.  So we both avoided tempation last night.  That is so awesome.

Hey Guys..I want to hop on this one as well!! I do really good in the day time, but after 6pm, it’s often downhill for me. This has stopped from seeing the weight loss results that I know that I can, if I get a hold of this habit. So, I am going to do 30 days of no eating past 8:30 pm for the next 30 days. Once, I get a handle on this, I know I will results..So tonight will be

Day 1:

Well, yesterday did not go too well. We ended up watching a movie till about 2 a.m and I ended up munching on some cheese (cubes) and some leftover meat!! I sort of made our own lieel hors’ de’ evers (sorry if I got this one wrong). I did not go too crazy though..I stopped after a few bites, so I am glad about that!

Hello, my name is Richard and ive been a member of MTM for about 6 mos now.

I believe i should weigh about 10lbs less than i do now, but havent been able to accomplish this

Big part of the problem is my overeating, at night.

Last night, i ate what amounts to 17 servings of lowcarb chocolate chip cookies, which i baked myself.

night before that, a full pint of ColdStone ice cream.  These events usually occur a week apart, but they are consistant.

I’m looking for, as i’m sure many others are - some help understanding and controlling this problem.
