I’m new to the MTM community a few weeks ago, and working on the 100 days of exercise!
Born and raised in Toronto. Had a coffee at Tim Horton’s and then walked over to Rogers Centre to take the Blue Jays game this afternoon. Then I went to my Good Life club for a workout. How’s that for Canadiana?
It’s great to hear from all you Canadians!
Thanks Shawn! but it will be ok, I will be going home for visit in two weeks. First stop for me..is Tim Hortons..and all I want is a coffee served black double cupped. I can already taste it, making Tims at home just aint the same! I found out something else we have in Canada that they don’t in the US, and that is the smarties. My son’s friends already have asked for a sample, so I promise I shall not buy them until the day leave..talk about temptation..boxes of smarties in the suitcase!
It’s funny, I mention Tim Horton’s to my American friends, and they are like, “what’s “Tim Horton’s”?. I keep forgetting that we’re only known in Canada and Afghanistan!
They DO have Tim’s in some northern states. Although, they don’t have them on every flippin’ street corner as we do.
You mean to tell me, Americans don’t have Smarties!? I remember when I was going to school At York U, and there was a band competition. The American girls surrounded the vending machines and kept on buying Ketchup chips… LOL!
Not as smartie to be found or not what we know of as smarties. You should have seen the look my son got when he went to a DQ and asked for a smartie blizzard. Smarties in the states is a cross between sweet tart and rockets, as someone years and years ago bought smartie name in the states, so they had to develop M&Ms;..so they could have our smarties..LOL. And there is no OLD Dutch Chips and my teenage son swears that Lays Dill Pickle just doesn’t compete. I don’t know about the lower forty eight, but I do know here in this part of Alaska they certainly don’t have a huge selection of Chip Dip either..so that is another thing on my son’s list, Dill Pickle dip for his chips ..LOL I told him to make sure he eats the chip and dip out of my sight...I am not going to blow everything by binging on all the flavours of things we have missed.
A few weeks back, a letter was read on Motivation to Move. It referred to the Trans Canada highway between Calgary and Banff - a distance of 128km. Riding the distance could also be a group activity for later in the summer … a group goal to work toward. On mountain bike that might be about 6 hours of effort. On road bike that could be between 3 and 4 hours. On the other hand, it might be more appropriate to try something much smaller and more local (for Albertans) - a group walk/hike, a run or triathlon or something different. Still, ending a day of exertion at the Banff Hot Springs might be something.
What other activities might we consider? It would be quite an achievement to bring ourselves together, this summer. What could happen?
Just popping this thread back to the top of the forum, in case any new Canadians have joined up but don’t know about us. Make your voices hear, o ye Canuks! Winter is coming, and we need as many like-minded people as we can to make it through!
-3! Ouch! This is one of those times I’m glad to be in Montreal! How are you supposed to ride your bike if your tongue keeps sticking to the handlebars (and why are you licking those handlebars, anyway)?
No plans yet, but something may yet come up at the last minute. At the moment, I think I’m going to take advantange of my boyfriend being in town two weeks longer than we’d originally planned, and be happy with that.
Greetings my fellow Canucks from Cambridge Ontario. What are we famous for? Not much really other than we are part of Kitchener-Waterloo region. Good to see some Canadiana posted here on MTM.
