So, I just joined the group yesterday & I had made the commitment to do the 100 day challenge. And as I have said in my introduction post, reading your stories are really inspiring. I’m 23 years old and have been working out for about a year ( with the help of a personal trainer for some of the past year, including today ). I started out at about 230 lbs, and am now 200 with the goal of being about 175 by this time next year. I’m about half way there.
So today marks day 1.
And here’s what I did…
15 minutes of intense eliptical as a warm-up (level 10-15), burnt 200 cals, and went about 1.25 miles (do you need kilometers? its weird living in Canada and things are still in imperial measurements).
I tried to throw some ab work in there, but I bruised my rib a couple of weekends ago (very imbarrasing story, actually) and it hurt like heck.
I guess I will continue posting here, and I created a new blog as well ~ so ill post there too. I plan on riding to the lakeshore tomorrow (I live in a suburb of Toronto), so I think that would qualify as a ‘Day 2’ event. I’ll let you know.
Dave.... there are a lot of Canadians who are members of this forum. Welcome to the challenge!!
I had no idea they were called “Imperial” units of measurement until a couple of days ago. (Another Canadian clued me in on the terminology.)
Looks like you are another person who is coming into this forum in the middle of an already successful weight loss program! If you need extra motivation to carry you to your ultimate goals, you’ve come to the right place!
Welcome, Glad you could make it EH! Tim you would’nt understand were speaking Canaidian, I am one of those Canaidians Tim speeks of so fondly. Tim your a hoser EH! Sorry to be so sterotypical Dave.
No problem Dave, it reminds me of something that happened to me once, A friend of mine and I were walking home, a car pulls up beside us, the driver asks for directions in the worst french I’ve ever heard in a Boston accent. So we both replied to her in english, she was amaized how well we spoke english.
Eech… I butcher my own language too. I’ve given up speaking to my parents in Hungarian. Plus, I kinda lost ALL the French I learned in school. Which is why I get a little nervous when I go to Montréal.
It’s Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, and a man makes his way to his seat right at center ice. He sits down, noticing that the seat next to him is empty. He leans over and asks his neighbor if someone will be sitting there. “No,” says the neighbor. “The seat is empty.” “This is incredible”, said the man. “Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs and not use it?” The neighbor says “Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Stanley Cup we haven’t been to together since we got married in 1967.” “Oh ... I’m sorry to hear that. That’s terrible. But couldn’t you find someone else, a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?” The man shakes his head “No, they’re all at the funeral.”
I have one of those suspension mountain bikes. I’ve had it for years. If you’re in the market for a new bike, i DONT recommend suspension bikes. They may ride well for a while but its starts to misalign and things can get quite interesting while riding (on an angle). I’m going to keep it for this season, but next year I will probably get a nicer one.
