I did manage to get most of the apples rearranged but the work out didn’t happen.  Although I did climb up and down a step ladder for an hour reassembling the cupboards now that I finally finished painting them.  Stair stepping slow motion, LOL.

The daily boost today gave me some thinking to do and then Paula has a really good post in her journal to think about.  Head feels like fluff today but hopefully after I work out it will feel better.  And a work out this morning is a must..between a sluggish body and head full of fluff..

Nothing clears the fluff out of your head better than a little fresh air and some exercise.  Have fun today.

With hubby having 3 day weekend and my son on Spring break has meant a break in the routine this week.  Unfortunately this has meant I haven’t been going where I wanted with the exercise (only have got 1 day since last week), but have been accomplishing a few other things. A good work out today will be good as I have some frustration to loose.  Someone took my son’s snowboard yesterday when there was a group of them at the hill.  He had left it the top of the bluff, and slid down on a tube with someone else, by the time he got back to the top, someone took his board.  I feel for him, as he saved for it and I don’t have an answer for him why people do what they do.

Life really has a way of upsetting the apples and likes to scatter them sometime.  Been busy restacking apples, not much time on the computer..and best laid plans were lost.  The only thing that has been constant this past several weeks is the daily boost, which has enabled me to glide along, and start getting back to where I want to be.

Wow where did the month go...gone...and unfortunately so has the focus on getting fit.  I have been focusing so much on my painting, that I forgot that being fit will only benefit the art as well.  I need to find a way to make being fit just as important as using my paintbrush everyday.  I keep telling myself that being fit will allow me to have more energy to expend on the art but the paintbrush wins and the next thing I know the day is done.  I continue to listen to the daily boost and will go back through the archives to see what Scott has to say about keeping focused on several things and making them equally important.  I am slowly changing the mindset, and I will continue to listen to Scott...he keeps telling me it is going to click.. I plan on a walk today, down the stairs from the top of the bluff to the beach and then take the windy curved path back to the top..It a steep climb which only take me about 30 minutes to do but I am puffing when I get to the top.  So hopefully it is burning the fat.

It is most definitely burning the fat. And when you get the itch to do it, do it right away. You’ll feel amazing and far more inspired for your art. You know how great you feel and how clear your mind is when you do it, imagine that on a canvas. You could even stop on the beach and meditate before heading back up. 30 minutes 3 times a week is how I started and the weight couldn’t stay on. Enjoy the scenery.

Thanks Bree;

The scenery is beautiful and it does all me time to clear my thoughts.  I have been playing nursemaid for the past 5 days as my son took a bad tumble off his dirt bike and damaged his knee..today we find out just how bad.  I just keep telling myself took me 11 years to get where I am...so don’t expect to change it all in a week.  Just keep taking those steps..and you will get there.

Yes you will get there, one day and one step at a time.

I don’t know what kind of art you do.  I know some painters who carry everything for miles just to get somewhere inspirational to paint.  That has an added advantage of built in exercise.  Are you a studio painter or an outdoor painter?

I hope your son is OK, I’m sending good thoughts to you both.

Hi Paula;

I am a studio painter but love taking my camera with me when I walk to take reference pictures.  As for my son, it is not looking good as they think he may have done major damage, guess I will find out next Tues when we go to the specialist.  I hope to get out for a walk today, as I should be able to leave him alone for 20 minutes.  He is still having difficultly getting up from a lying or sitting position.

I have been thinking lots about the changes I want to make to make in life.  There are changes I am pursuing in all areas but it sometimes seems a little overwhelming, so rather than thinking about the whole picture I will make small changes here and there.  Quitting smoking was far easier than changing my diet and exercise.  These seem to fall by the way when I am thinking about other goals I want to achieve even though I know I would have more energy to reach those goals.

Just a quick update, and so thankful that the boost is there as an anchor.  The last couple of weeks I have spent more time focusing on my son and other things than the things I want.  His surgery is now over, and he is on the road to recovery.  It seemed as if ever time I went to get on the treadmill he needed something, and lack of sleep left me less than motivated.  They reconstructed his ACL and removed a 1/4 of meninicus (sp).  He will hopefully be off the crutches in two weeks when we fly to Canada and he will be able to enjoy his stay somewhat.

I am looking forward to the new programing but will need to find a way to participate while I am on holidays as I had not planned on taking the laptop with me.  I hate carrying things on the planes and hate the overhead compartments as well..(probably because I am short and can’t reach them anyways).

I will take my ipod, and continue to use Scott as my anchor and helping to keep me on track.

I had set time aside last night to work on the treadmill, but just as I stepped on my son came to me and asks me to help him have a bath.  Part of me was saying he could wait 40 minutes but the mother part won when he was standing there with crutches, a leg brace, a very sore knee , and all he wanted was some help so he could have a bath.  Needless to say, I put off doing my work out so it didn’t happen.  But the good news is that the first thing I did this morning was to spend time on the treadmill, so the day is off to great start!

Hooray for you! I know how hard it is to choose exercise over a child who isn’t in terrible need of me, so I can’t imagine the pain in having him wait. But it is very important for you to take care of yourself, and it sounds as if you got some of that in today. The cool thing about flying with your son, you should get to board first, and they help you put your luggage in the compartments. Bonus! When is the vacation?

Thanks Bree!  Got 45 minutes in this morning, had to push myself to get there but I got there.  I hadn’t planned to do 45 but was listening to a podcast and there was still 15 minutes left to it, so I kept walking.  We leave for home (Lloydminster, Sask/Alta) on June 28th, and won’t return until August 2.  One of the hardest things will not to be indulging in the flavors of all the things that are “only in Canada..what a pity” and if anyone recognizes that ad slogan you know just how old I am.  LOL.

It’s about priorities.  You chose correctly - your son needed your attention and you did what was best for both of you.  You found a way to take care of your child and get your workout finished.  Life isn’t just about diet and exercise, it’s about living your values.

Wow...what a podcast that orientation was.  Did my first long slow burn but think I might have overdone it as my hands were swollen when I finished.  I didn’t feel dizzy when I was walking on the treadmill but when I stopped after 60 minutes..had a dizzy moment..nothing drastic just a little light headed.  I have to figure out how I am going to be able to continue with Scott while I am on holidays.  There will be a five or six days that I will not be able to access itunes to get the downloads.
Not sure how I am going to work this but I will find a way.
