I agree with you both, Emmi and Julie. Why do some people get so upset when their machine is in use. I’ve even done the rowing machine when the treadmills are full and got in a great wrkout.
I’ve had guys come up to me in the middle of a set of bench press and ask if I’m about done. How rude is that? Grab some dumbells or work in with me. You never know, we may have someting in common and we can spot each other.
That’s another great workout, Emmi. I can just see the pounds falling off. Hopefully this is the start of greater days to come!

How rude is right, Kevin. Sheesh. Thanks for your comments.
APRIL 10 DAY 16
Pedometer 11,145
Miles: 8.36 Miles
I had another really good workout, Honestly I didn’t know how it was going to go. I felt so tired when I got there. I had another night of restless sleep. I did well with food though. I ate a lot more protein today than usual but managed to still stay within my calorie range. My body was craving it. I fed it. There was a pretty good crowd at the gym. It was less than Monday but still busy. (And the hot guy was there!)
I started with the weight machines.
14 machines 4 sets of 10 reps on each for 1 hour
I then went to the elliptical because the arc trainer was in use. I do really want to try that machine. One of these days I’ll get a chance. After all the weights I decided to do the fat burning setting on the elliptical and I kept my heart rate around 120-125 for 40 minutes. I burned 419 calories for 3 miles.
After that I felt that I could go some more so I went to the treadmill for another 15 minutes at a speed of 3.5 burning an additional 94 calories. Total calories burned (not including weight time) is 513. I was in the gym for 2 hours today. I always shoot to at least burn 500 calories per workout. I almost always will do more but I feel I can’t leave until I reach that 500. I really hope I can sleep well tonight because I want to get to the gym at 5:30AM tomorrow. My family is getting together for dinner to say goodbye to my sister who is returning to California. If I don’t go workout before work, I’ll never get my exercise in and I’m not yet ready for a rest day.
APRIL 11 DAY 17
I hit the gym bright and early at 5:30AM. I had such a hard time getting up. I finally got a good night sleep and my body was feeling sore and stiff. I hit the snooze once and then my cat started jumping on me and I said, that’s it, I’m going, I’m going and I got there. Since I have a much shorter time available in the morning due to work I just jumped on the elliptical for 40 minutes. I did the random setting with reverse mode on and had the resistance set to 2 for 5 minutes, then 6 for 8 minutes and then 8 for 30 minutes. I burned 517 calories. I’m ready for the day. I want to do the gym again tomorrow morning. Let’s see what my body tells me.
I agree with kevin to, but there are some people who think a gym is somwhere to socialize. I curcuit train and try to go to the gym in non peek hours so I can do my exercises in succsession. If the machine I want is busy I move on, but if the person is sitting there talking doing nothing for more than five minutes I ask if I can get a set in, use the machine reset it to the way the person who was using it wipe it off and leave. I have done a whole circuit and found the same person sittng at a machine jabbering away and showing pictures of there grandchildren. If you want to talk to someone go have a coffee somwhere. If someone comes up to while your doing your sets, or they have reserved the machine(the ellipticals at my gym have reservation sheets),I aggree tottally.
Sorry about the mini rant, but have had some bad experience with people falling asleep on machines. Sounds like your doing great!MMMMMMMMMMMM elliptacrack!
So what is the body telling you to do today???? You did great on day 17, waking up early even!! I bet your body is already showing you your results of your workouts, how great is that?!?!?!
I need my fixxxxxxx....mmmmm crack, I mean ellipticrack
My body told me to stay in bed this morning. I had every intention of getting to the gym at 5:30AM but I did not sleep well last night at all. The BF showed up at midnight and woke me up. Then he puts the TV on and turns the volume up, falls asleep and starts snoring. Grrrr…
I was going to meet a girlfriend after work today but I am going to the gym first before I do anything.
I do want to ad that I did several sets of ab crunches on the floor and on my exercise ball last night. I also tried doing pushups. Boy those are hard!

Welcome to the club. My alarm went off at 5:30 and I just turned it off and went right back to bed. I do that about once a week :(
Hey, crap happens right? Some days it just doesn’t work out. At least you have a plan “B”. Enjoy your workout this evening.

It’s all good C/H, no biggie. I hope you don’t mind, I gave your e-mail adress to my team of high priced lawyers, the need to talk to to you Just kidding.
APRIL 12 DAY 18
Yes, I did make it to the gym after work and I had a very good session. I wanted to try what Scott has been talking about and do a hard and fast cardio workout for 20 minutes and then do a long slow burn. I finally got to try out the Arc Trainer. Whew that is a tough machine. I did my 20 minutes of hard cardio and burned off 300 calories. Then I moved to my ellipticrack machine for 45 minutes keeping my heart rate between 120-125 and blew out an additional 430 calories. In total I burned 730 calories. I wanted to stay longer but I was starving by that point and it was a good thing I wrapped things up because my girlfriend called me crying do to her dying kitty. I had to go console her after that, poor thing.
I will be going back tonight to the gym. I plan on doing an hour of weights and then another long slow burn. It is hard to keep that slow pace. It does get boring but I’ve been listening to some NPR podcasts that have been very interesting. I love This American Life. I will report what I do but you most likely won’t see me back here until Monday. I have to get the internet at home. I really miss this forum at night and on weekends. I would have more time to think about what I want to say.
See you cats later.
WOO HOO! You did a great workout there chickie!! Just even by reading your posts, I can see the progression and the determination growing-you really have been going at this challenge with 110% and that should be commended!! That Arc trainer sounds tough, I have never tried it!! I guess I am a bit spoiled (or stuck in my ways) but I haven’t found any other podcast that I enjoy listening to other than Scotts.....is there anything even comparable??? I don’t think so.
