I just had one of the Pomegranate Blueberry Black Tea drinks from POM.
I’ll have to try that one.
My usual drinks include:
Coffee - with some low fat or skim milk (or sugar free, non-fat, vanilla lattes as a treat) Usually I make a pot in the morning and drink the entire thing by noon. No coffee after 2 pm though unless it’s decaf and that just isn’t the same.
Grapefruit juice, just a small glass in the morning with breakfast
Green tea - no sugar, or if I have to get the presweetened, I get diet green tea
Wine - (my weakness)
Water - Lots and lots of water - never go anywhere without my water bottle, or if I’m hiking or kayaking, I always have my 3 Liter hydration pack at least 2/3 full. I’ve been known to drink the entire thing on a long trip. Sometimes I add a little lemon juice.
Recently, I’ve found a substitute for the wine - not that it tastes anything like wine, It’s something I can drink when I might like a glass of wine, but prefer to make a healthier choice. I pour diet tonic water into a wine glass and add a splash of Lite Cranberry juice. It has a very refreshing taste, looks pretty in the wine glass. I save this mix for any time I might choose a glass of wine. I treat the cranberry tonic the same way I would treat wine. I don’t keep a glass of wine next to me to sip all day while I’m working, I don’t have wine with lunch, except maybe special lunches on the weekends, etc. This makes is something special, so it really does make me feel like I’m treating myself to something special.
Here is a good drink that I just discovered at work today. Arizona Tea has one called, “Chinese Apple Pomegranate Green Tea.” I would highly recommend this one to anyone who enjoys Pomengranate and Green Tea. This has a nice mellow taste. I have really gotten on a Pomegranate kick recently and have enjoyed finding out drinks that have a Pomegranate mix. Check this one out and let me know what you think.
I like to mix things up with a 32oz bottle of water, another of green iced tea, and another of Crystal Light. Oh, and I can’t forget my daily can of Diet Mt. Dew.
I’m a sucker for Slim Fast Ultima as a meal replacement on occasion, too much sugar though (17g) in my opinion but a good “hold me over” until a real meal can be eaten.
Other than that I’m a water fiend, I would guess I drink anywhere from 2-3 liters per day.
When I arrive at work around 1145 PM I’ll suck down 16 ounces of coffee (usually with cream and splenda but black lately).
Gotta have that burst of caffeine.
I start my day with a glass of milk ..I can’t start my day with out it, I need my milk fix without it am a real grouch till i get my fix
Other then that I tend to drink, water water and more water
Though I will get in another glass of milk in the evening with my evening meal and medications (water just doesn’t seem to help the meds go down without causing tummy upset)
I will have a can of regular pop on occasion depending on what’s in the house, my preferance is pepsi when feeling healthy and ginger ale when I’m major sick.
I gave up Diet Coke and drink water almost exclusively- I do have my coffee for the caffeine and if I really crave a soda, I drink Diet Rite Zero (no sodium) I actually treated myself to a Diet Coke the other day and didn’t like it-
Isn’t it amazing how our tastes change? It’s like we spent years training ourselves to enjoy food that’s bad for us and when we get away from it for a little while, we completely break the habit.
I used to drink soda all the time, now if I have one I actually get kind of sick to my stomach. Then I usually have to drink lots of water to help my body feel better. I am glad that I have kicked the soda habit and gone mostly with water, I sure feel much better. It is kind of crazy once your body gets used to having good food and drink, that when you give it junk food your body will give you all sorts of problems. I am glad that all of us here have worked so hard to give our bodies the good food and drink that it needs to perform well.
Long ago when I worked in retail I drank Diet Pepsi all day long because I could get free refills at the food court. Now I can’t stand the stuff! I aways wondered about the effects of aspertame especially at such a high concentration. Probably why I had a chronic headache.
These days I start my day with two cups of coffee with splenda and either powdered creamer or skim milk (whichever is around). There is always a mug of filtered water at my desk that I refill at least 4 times a day. When I work out I have a bottled water with me at all times. I sweat alot and need to rehydrate constantly. At home I like to have Crystal Light in the fridge. I’ve gotten into the Cherry Pomegranate flavor. It’s yummy. After hours (and not every night!) I like to enjoy a few Miller Lights or even a couple Cherry Bomb shots made with sugar free red bull. (I’m working on the moderation part.) I really don’t like milk at all so I don’t drink much of it. I like tea every once in awhile but it’s usually when I got a bad cold. All in all I think water is the best thing for you.
Lemon Perrier, all the fiz of soda and none of the garbage found in soda. Also could be a great replacement to gatorade due to it’s high sodium. Scoobydoo-just noticed your Zig Ziglar quote, Zig Rocks!(As much as an 80 year old can rock of course )
I am like the human tank… I drink, drink, drink lots of stuff, sometimes to my detriment! :(
I am guessing that I drink about 10-14 glasses of water per day, about 5-6 Diet Mt Dews for the caffeine, and a glass of skim milk with my dinner/daily vitamins. (Right now, I am accompanied by my 24 ounce water bottle filled to the top.)
On the weekends… I enjoy a few light beers… which IS my #1 weakness. (Not binging… but more drinking to unwind after a stressful week at work). Actually, this is the ONLY thing I continue to struggle with, I think I have all of the other stuff down pat. I know I probably would’ve lost an additional 5 pounds or so over the last several months if I held that habit in check.
Like most of us, I drink about two or three litres of water a day. I usually have one or two cups of coffee, one or two cups of tea (green, black, white or the last one I’ve found which is a mix of green tea and roasted brown rice called Genmai Cha tea) and a few (I try to keep it less than two) cans of diet soda.
When I train, I drink about one litre of water mixed with half a litre of Gatorade. I usually don’t drink any Gatorade if I train for less than one hour.
Over the weekend, I usually have one or two glasses of wine or gluten free beer (because of celiac disease). I try to avoid as much as possible any kind of alcohol.
