Here’s a trick for not binging on a big meal. Eat some protein about 20 minutes before the meal, and drink 2 cups of water. You’re stomach will feel fuller from the water, and the protein will tell your brain you’re not all that hungry when you sit down for the big meal. I’m not talking about a lot of food here, like some jerky or nuts. Protein also sticks longer, so I like to use that, but veggies work well too.

What do you do to keep yourself from going nuts? I know we just talked about this, but I don’t think it can be repeated too often.

I am a protein shake or a protein bar guy… and I drink tons of water.

I brought these items with me on our family trip last weekend… they come in handy esp. during holiday weekends and on road trips.

Almonds are good - need to remember that. Easy to carry !

I have one big problem (well, actually more than one, but lets start with this one grin ): i am never sure which foods are high in protein. I mean eggs, fish and meat, yes, but otherwise ?

Nuts probably, but there the fat content is dangerous.

Could you help me there. I think i need to raise my level of proteins and there are only so many eggs i think i can endure grin

To answer my own question i found this :

http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/whattoeat/a/highproteinfood.htm

but i would be interested what each of you do to meet protein levels.

tofu seems to be a good one.
I read a good recipe yesterday, i will post it tomorrow.

if all the fat you ate thru the day were ‘good’ fat, you really wouldnt havee to worry about it..... it’s the bad stuff that adds up

if you go to http://www.fitday.com - type in a food, you can get the fat, protien and carb make up of almost any food too

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

How about 2 hard boil eggs, just the white, with half spoon of mustard inside and lightly sprinkled with parmesan? I think that has only about 65 calories (17x2 for the egg, 11 cal for the mustard and about 20 for the parmesan. If you want more crunch, just put some raw brocoli.

Sounds good, I’ll try that sometime. Isn’t it amazing how less than 100 calories before a meal can save you hundreds during the meal?
