Does the reflection in the mirror ever talk back to you?

...I have a reflection that talks to me all the time. My Twin Sister Gina. Now get this...we are not identical, but we could be...or so we are told...with one exception...Gina is a certified personal trainer and sports nutritionist..and..well...lol...I’m not...I am as you might say, the more reubenesque (sp) twin grin

So anyway, Gina is always after me to get this weight off, and always trying to motivate me…

So tonight, on my commute home, our cell phone conversation begins with her asking me “how’s the diet going?” (always the first words...)

“Not good” I tell her...food remains a challenge..."but the good thing is I am moving every day!”

I got her attention.

She says “Tell me more!”

So I quickly introduce her to Scott and Carlyn, MTM Forums, my homework strategy, etc.

“Sounds like something finally Clicked Tina!” my fitter, healthier mirror image says. I laugh...Scott has said that would happen...lol...the “click”

The excitment continues to grow in our conversation as we begin to talk about “The Secret” - and she tells me what her experience was 6 years ago when she had committed to a life of health and activity. Here is what she said:

“Tina, before I lifted my first weight, before I worried about what my meals would look like, I was already sold in my mind that I was at my fitness goal. I began to “act” like the person I wanted to be...moving, eating healthy, etc...soon, I was actually this health conscious person. In fact, my mind was so convinced I was already at my goal weight that when I would catch my reflection in the bathroom mirror as I dressed, it took a moment for me to process this reflection - because I did not recognize the body reflected back to me. You see, MY body was firm and muscular, atheletic and healthy...certainly not this soft fat and tired one that stood before me. Little by little, that soft body began to look more familiar to me until the day came when my mind did not conflice with my reflection…

...so Tina, start to believing you are who you want to be...and quit “wanting” to be that person.

Good Food for Thought - and it made alot of sense, because Scott has even said that when we tell the universe we “want” to lose weight - well, we get what we say - more “wanting”...we have to grab what we want in our minds, feel the emotion of being what we want to be - and then release it...step into it...become it...and LIVE a positive life.

That’s all for now -

Blessings!

T

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

This was so full of insight and inspiration, thank you for posting it. It amazes me, how simple all this seems to be- it just makes sense, and from what I’ve seen of the success of everyone here at the forums, it just works! That’s wonderful, and it sounds like you have a great support system in your sister. You are lucky to have each other! smile

Hey again Tina,

That was so cool how Scott read this post on the show this week. I’m glad it was shared not just within the forum, but among all the listeners. smile

I’m very happy to see the truly important members of the family beginning to appear in photos! Maaya approves.

Hmmm.. I’m not sure here but....

MrFurless?  Are you getting ready to stage a felinefollies.com mutiny here in MTM?  I wouldn’t ask except I’ve seen more and more felines here in MTM Land and today I found an email sent to my cats asking “how’s recon going”.  Are you guys up to something?

Maaya and Pepita have been hanging around my computer quite a bit in the last few days, and I’ve noticed much more online activity than what I generate, so they may be planning a coup, since there seem to be so many feline-friendly folks on the forums (how’s that for alliteration?).

Not that a feline take-over would be a bad thing, but there are a few dog lovers among the troops, I’m sure, who need to be accounted for. I’ll see about rescinding their internet privileges…

When you don’t move the cat…

This is actually more true! Many times I’ve chosen another seat rather than disturb a sleeping cat. And then there are those who glare at you and back you off from claiming THEIR seat!

There have been mornings when I don’t make the bed because it will disturb the cat.  tongue rolleye
Have you ever been pushed over to the side of the bed by an 8 pound cat hogging the middle, and taking all the covers?

Yes! Which is why our bedroom is usually a “feline-free” zone — unless there’s a stowaway in the closet or under the bed who comes out in the middle of the night. Then I wonder why my legs are all scrunched up — no room!

Mistoffolese is not a bad bed cat; he tends to sleep on the big wicket storage basket we keep at the end of the bed. Problem with him is that he wants out at about 4 a.m., and is quite loud about it!

Yes!!!!  Hubby and I have to wrap ourselves around a 22 lb cat (some have asked if he is part wildcat of some type) and an 8 lb pomeranian...but we would not have it any other way grin
