I Need A GPS For My Life
0 Comments Topic: Flying, Life In Balance, Motivation, Personal GrowthIt’s been said that once you take to the air, you always look skyward.
That is certainly the case with me.
Learning to fly a few years back and now working on my Instrument Rating, I am constantly amazed that they actually let me fly an airplane all by myself.
It’s been a great adventure and from the very beginning, I’ve always known that becoming a pilot was a lot like learning to live life.
The other day Air Traffic Control cleared me for take off on Runway 27 out of Sanford, Florida.
I was just about ready to go, when a quick glance at the GPS told me everything I needed to know about flying and life.
You see, even though I started at the beginning, practiced for hours and hours to gain experience and even brushed up on my skills with a little retraining along the way…

Totally Awesome Fly Out To Cedar Key, Florida
0 Comments Topic: Flying, Photos of Scott See More PhotosFrom the very first second when I rotated the nose of my Cessna 172 toward the sky - I knew life would never be the same.
As I was on final approach to Cedar Key Airport this weekend I noticed I was totally comfortable, relaxed and completely in control of the Cessna 172 with 4 souls aboard.
Oh how times have changed!
Four years ago I joined a group of pilots and made Cedar Key my first flight after earning my Private Pilot Certificate.
Not only was it my first “real” trip, the weather was less than perfect, the runway looked more like a golf cart path, I was scared to death and second guessing everything.
I shouldn’t have been.
It’s always tough when we begin a journey like learning to fly, but the step-by-step, one hour at a time training we are given more than prepares us to take on the… Read More

Flight Plan For Life
0 Comments Topic: FlyingAs a pilot, I’m always using two of the best tools ever created: A Check List and a Flight Plan.
The Check List is something all pilots use to make sure they’ve done everything required to have a safe flight. That’s why I call it a “did I do it” list! It’s a great asset and make it so we don’t have to remember everything - we just check the list. Cool right?
The Flight Plan is another great tool used for all IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) and can be used for VFR (Visual Flight Rules). It’s just a way of making sure you’ve have thought through every possible detail… and let others know what you’re up to.
I find both of these tools useful in the air… and in life.
Over the years, Motivation To Move listeners have enjoyed my flying metaphors and this week is loaded with them. Be sure to check out Read More

Hi Carlyn,
I had registered for the program but then realized it was going to be taking place on nights when I am in school.
I just got done listening to session one and it was fantastic! I am glad we had the opportunity to download it.
Will this option be available for the other sessions? Do I need to register for each session or was I registered for all of them when I registered for the first one?
Thanks!
Andrea

Kalleen - So glad you’re enjoying the SMSM so far! You’re right - this first workshop was aimed more toward creating a foundation for fitness. Each of the workshops are following along with each week of the Start Moving Stay Moving, so in the next 3 sessions we’ll be focusing less on how to get started, and more on how to incorporate a healthy lifestyle for the long term. Here’s what’s coming in the next few weeks:
Workshop #2: “How Bad Do I Want It?”
Feb 10 7pm eastern
Workshop #3: “How Do I Want To Feel?”
Feb 17 (time TBA)
Workshop #4: “Stay Moving For Life - Tricks to Making It Stick”
Feb 24 (time TBA)
Hope to see you there!
